In Genesis 1:26 we read, "And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness."... Why does he say "us," not "me," why "our," and not "my"? One would think that the one and only God ought to address mankind in the singular, not in the plural.

It is because of the trinity.

I don't really believe in the Trinity because it is not mentioned in the Hebrew Scriptures. Do you have any defense of the Trinity concept rooted in the Hebrew Scriptures, or any other text? I am very interested in your views. Thank you very much.

He probably belongs to one of these cults that deny the trinity. But yes, it is in the Old Testament. Genesis 1:1: In the beginning, Elohim created. That is not Yahweh, Elohim is a plurality, meaning more than one. Just like Cherubim and Seraphim, angels. Anything that ends in “im” is more than one.

Now, we know that God the Father was there, and you believed that. But in Genesis 1:2, the Holy Spirit moved upon the face of the waters. Then in Proverbs 30:4, it says, who hath created all the ends of the earth? Who hath created the world? What is God's name and what is His Son's name? That’s not the New Testament, that’s the Hebrew Scriptures. In Isaiah 9:6-7, it says, Unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given. And what is the name of this son? The Mighty God in the next verse. Oh, there is so much more I could say, but my time is gone.

Because in Hebrew it is ELOHIM as in God (EL) and the Angelic Beings. They are referred to as Elohim throughout the BIBLE. The trinity did not become a doctrine until 325 AD. The trinity was mans creation not to be found until the lies of Paul. If it is not referring to the Angels, then when did God create them since it is not mentioned in the BIBLE ?Therefore they must have already been there before Genesis correct?

here is a link regarding the plural use of Elohim:

The "royal we" did not take place till approximately 350 advert, so as that wasn't it. The plural grew to become into utilized in very few, if any, different places in the Bible, so it could not have been God conversing to himself, certainly one of his factors, or certainly one of his meant avatars. It grew to become into between the situations that God and his son labored mutually on a undertaking, nevertheless some people weasel and say that he grew to become into conversing in basic terms to angels.

God is God the Father, God the Son (Jesus) and God the Holy Spirit, as His Word tells us.

Anyone who claims otherwise is calling God's Word a lie.

Jesus was God in the flesh, and did not want us to worship anything in the flesh, so He taught us to worship God the Father, not Himself in the flesh. God

It appears there is more than one god; and more than one god referred to in the Bible.

Christians are not usually willing entertain this idea, as it would completely undermine their entire religion. However; there are scholars who adamantly believe this and who have researched this topic and written a great deal about it.

Look it up, it is VERY fascinating and you will probably never read the Bible with the same eyes again.

He wasn't addressing mankind when He said that. He was talking to His Son, Jesus Christ, who had a hand in Creation with Him. They were together. He was along side Him.

John 17:5 - "Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began."

its one exception to the rule

over and over again G-d refers himself as I such as in the Ten commandments and everywhere else in the Bible

for those that are going to jump on and say that its the trinity then why dosent G-d refer to himself as us or we the other hundreds of times in the Bible?

clearly Genesis 1:26 is saying something happened that was out of the ordinary
