I have a disability and was in a wheelchair for the longest time. I have to use bilateral forearm crutches to get around with. I have lost 73 lbs. by cutting back on my meals, cutting out salt and sugar, stopped drinking any type of soda including diet, I only drink water, I eat several small meals a day. I cut out all dairy and breads. I take a calcuim supplement. Here is a sample of what I eat

For breakfast I will have 1/2 cup oatmeal and 2 egg whites (disgard the yoke)

midmorning snack I will have 2 oz. of chicken of fish and a piece of fruit

Lunch usually a salad with tuna or chicken and 1/2 baked potato

mid afternoon snack 2 oz. chicken and a piece of fruit

dinner 2 oz. baked fish (NO BUTTER) 2 cups of a veggie, 1/2 cup of mashed sweet potatoes

after dinner snack 2 oz. of chicken and ground frozen fruit with a dash of lemon juice.

I have cut out all oils and fats as well. I have lost these 73 lbs since mid July. I don't take any diet supplements. I eat a lot of fish, chicken breast, turkey breast, lean beef, and lean pork. I also have egg whites. I hope this helps because it does work.

Hi there. I have just the solution for you.
I am a South African and have suffered with weight problems all my life. My father ,who has recently had his leg amputated and is wheelchair bound, is also overweight. My husband had weight problems when we met.
My husband and I went on a diet program called TLC. I have lost 14 kgs in just 3 months. I have not put any weight back on and I eat the most rediculous fast foods it is unbelievable. It is worth googling. This diet does not do injections, pills or milkshakes and you loose a minimum of 1kg a week. No catches.
We were not allowed to do any heacy exercise during the diet. We were encouraged to do very gentle walking for 15 mins a day if that.
I really hope that this will help. I promise you that if you go on this diet, no matter who you are you WILL lose weight.

to loose body mass, you must decrease the amount of food sustaining that mass. It's all about decreasing calories. Some morbidly obese wheelchair bound persons have had gastric bypass surgery or bariatric surgery (they are different). However, if they could not control the eating before the surgery, chances are they will have a very difficult time doing so after the surgery. I see many reports of complications after these types of procedures.

The may lose weight by doing exercises in a sitting position. They can also modifying their diet to include plenty of fruit and vegetables and cutting down on sweets, cakes, sweet drinks and anything containing (or cooked in) a lot of fat.

This requires specialist nutrition and I would advise that you start by seeing your consultant as any regular diet may affect your condition
