go to petfinder.com.....this is a site for rescue groups.....just enter your Zip code, and enter breed wanted, and be AMAZED at how many great choices you have !!.....i recently adopted a Great Pyrenees mix from them, and my dog Sylvester is awesome !!.....check it out.....try it.....do a good deed....adopt a dachschund puppy today !!!.....good luck to you, in your search for a dachschund puppy as a new pet !!!!.....most adoptions run between $ 50 to $ 200 maximum, for a wonderfull dog, who will be very happy to be your new pet !!!

Dashounds are wonderful, we just bought a long-hair cream absolutely gorgeous, however, they are very stubborn so start your training FAST< and often.... also, try to find a vet that has experiance with this breed (good luck), If you would like a awsome breeder i would recomend the one i used. In Mickelton NJ. Let me know if you want a phone # ect....

fistly learn about the breed - they are NOT hounds they are hunds.. which means dog

ok look for a breeder - there are plenty in your area, a quick search on line turned up several that I was able to find.. pick up a dog magazine they will give you several as well... sometimes you have to look outside your area if you are looking for a specific line and have the dog flown to you.
NEVER NEVER go to a pet store or puppy broker - you will pay too much for a low quality pup
contact your local SPCA they may know of a rescue..
contact your local Dog Club they may know of a breeder
vets often know of breeders

Go to www.akc.org, look for the closest chapter of the Dachshund club & contact members or go to a meeting. Buy from a breeder that tests & certifies their breeding dogs free from genetic defects known to the breed for a healthy pet & the continued support of the reputable breeder when questions arise - good luck!
