Whenever I go in for a physical exam my mom always comes with me. She doesn't just wait in the waiting room, she comes into the exam room with me.

I don't really mind that at all and she's come my whole life so I am used to it but none of my friends will let their moms come in. So I am wondering if there are other guys out there my age (high school) or older who let their moms go to their physicals.

This is your decision. What are you comfortable with? If you think it is time for your mom to wait in the waiting room, you need to let her know that.

As a mom of grown up children, I went in with them to doctors, dentists, etc. until I was certain they could take care of themselves - I knew of many cases of children being sexually taken advantage of by all kinds of adults in positions of power, authority, and control, so I wanted to know what was going on with my kids when they were alone with other adults.

Your mom probably just hasn't really thought about it and probably doesn't really want to notice that you are growing up and don't need her in the same kind of ways now that you are more mature. Take care.

THAT is a mom that really cares about you. DIFFICULT in today's society where we are all so worked, so stressed.

My wife and I BOTH go with our son when he get's an exam. He says he feels better when we come. He is now age 15.

When I was young, my parents would drop me off at the doctor office, pick me up when I asked them to call and come get me. VERY LONELY way to get a physical.

My wife's sister does the same thing we do - with her two kids. One is age 20, the other is age 13.

Bottom line, our kids have parents that would step in front of a gun to save their children. How many other parents out there would do that?

Its a little odd, mothers should let there sons get there own physicals by the time they are a teenager. Frankly its viewed as unhealty by most physicians, plus they feel they cant get honest answers by the teen for fear of saying something in front of their parents.

Of course there are guys that have their mom come in to a higher age. If you feel okay with her going in, why shouldn't she? She's your mom, she's familiar with you on every level.

Your Mom's crazy - you need some privacy! Once you start changing/becomming a man so to say, your Mom should be out of the room! but if you're comfortable w/ it, it doesn't matter.

YOU are the patient and YOU have patient's rights. You might gently but firmly tell your mother that you are going to have the exam in private with your physician, and invite her to participate when the physician discusses the outcomes of the exam with you.
I like my husband to come to exams with me, but we have a routine in which at the time of the actual exam, HE EXCUSES HIMSELF, and then the doctors bring him back in for the discussion of diagnosis and prognosis.
