do Scottish Terriers usually run? NOT from a pet store or an irresponsible breeder. Im not looking for champion bloodlines or anything, just a family pet. Are they under 1,000?

thanks

I live in a pretty small town. There arent many breeders or kennel clubs where im from. The closest ones are a few hours away. And our rescue group only has cats and a few really big dogs.Ive saw a few adds in the newspsper about scottie puppies and they were under 500. I was just wondering if thats too much or too little.

I think your location could play a part in the cost of your pet too. We just got a puppy and found that closer to a city you are, typically the more expensive the dog. I am from central Illinois and a scottish terrier would run about $400-$500. If you are looking for something under $1000 without champion bloodlines I don't think you would have any problems.

No. From a good show breeder, champion, health cleared stock, a pet puppy is not under $1,000.
I know one, and puppies start at $1,500.
Not all breeders sell puppies at different prices for show and pet. I sell all my puppies at the same price. The show people are going to be shoveling a TON more money into their dog in the future!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I do not know what you are looking for. A BYB will be cheaper, but not health cleared and that IS an IRRESPONSIBLE breeder!!

You have to decide how much you will spend for what kind of pet.

They are not a common breed anyway, so the cost even with BYB is higher than a lot of breeds. I have NEVER seen them offered for $400.

Search here at the national breed club website, they will probably have a list of breeders and rescue as well
