It depends on what you mean by sexual tension. In one sense, no it is unlikely that there can be a long-term relationship without any feelings. However, the important question is how you manage the relationship. An important adult skill is the ability to manage emotions and do what is right no matter the circumstances. Therefore, just because someone has some attraction to another does not automatically mean that the two will fall into a romantic involvement. Also, would not a pretty woman be insulted if her male friend did not find her attractive? It is important to feel with the heart, think with the mind, and be responsible. That's called being an adult.

Kinda. I have a woman for a good friend. We met by flirting but soon realized we would not be a good match for a serious dating relationship. However we have been good friends for over a year. She is in a serious relationship now and I have met her bf and she is very upfront with him about me and he is fine with it. It's great to have a female perspective available from someone I know will be honest and who truly has my best interest at heart. We still tease, Not what I would call sexual tension, but we appreciate each other as a woman and as a man. It is not stressful, its fun. A little gender-difference spark adds to the friendship. We talk about sex issues. It's rare, but precious. I believe we will remain good friends for a long time.

Provided no situations arise that will spark sexual tension, ie visually or accidental close physical contact.
Or as most of the others might suggest; that the man is very gay.
Or they just aren't attracted to each other.

Not really. Because men and women by nature are attracted to the opposite sex and if they find a person of the opposite sex who is a really good friend, which is basically the way a bf/gf would be but without the physical part of the relationship then they will tend a bit to that sort of relationship. But, this is of course not always so, I have a lot of girls who are good friends of mine but I'm not attracted to them guess it depends on how close you actually are or how often you are together.

Absolutely. A random gender difference thought may pass through your minds, but there does not have to be the same intense level of sexual interest that you feel when around other men or women.

yes. It also takes a very trusting lady at home if you have this. Also try to bring your siggnificant othe along sometimes as well. It will help a lot!

nope, not unless they're both gay. If it happened to Jerry and Elaine on Seinfled, it will happen to anyone. Trust me, I've been there with a guy i would've NEVER thought I'd fall for, but after year of getting emotionally closer and closer, we both ended up falling for each other and ruined our friendship. If you have any other questions about it, email me. good luck.
