If there is a dvd player in the Home theatre system, then you'll use your RCA cables. (Yellow, Red, White)

IF it's just speakers, you'll use audio cables. (White, red)

IF you have an HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) input on the back of your HT, use that.

Depends on TV and the Home theatre,if both have the jacks the best= HDMI, single cable carrying pure digital video and sound, next best= Component, 3 video cables for each color and your audio cables, next best= S-video, 1 cable for video and your audio cables, next best= composite, 1video and 2 audio(L&R), and least= RF cable.
I'd recommend taking your time and make sure equipment is unplugged while doing your hookup, also it helps to label each end of the cables, it really helps next time you have to rewire it.
