I know that beagles can be kind of hyper and wonder away from the house. This is because they were bred for hunting and tracking purposes.
But they are awfully cute!
The name depends on the dog. I would wait to pick a name until you get the dog. Sometimes seeing their personality will help you come up with the perfect name.

Well of the dog types you specified, I like the Golden Retrever.
If I were getting a dog myself, I'd lean towards the Springer Spaniel.
As far as names are concerned, I met a lady the other day and she had her dog "Scooter" with her. I thought that was a great name and it fit the dogs personality.
