All my icons on the desktop are highlighted.How do I return them to normal?

You have Active Desktop enabled - easy fix.

Right-click on your desktop, hover on "arrange Icons by" - when the next context menu opens, deselect "lock web items on desktop"... problem solved.

right click anywhere on the desktop and select refresh....or go into the display settings either from right clicking on the desktop and selecting properties or from the control panel and display....play with the settings until it looks "normal" to you
