It would have to be stephen hendry, this is because the 70s and 80s snooker players had a much different style of play compared to the modern players of today and whilst the modern players have been playing the older players have been winning nothing...but saying that steve davis has done very well to stay in the top 16 in this day and age.

For me it has to Steve Hendry, the man never rarely gave anything away, and am not just on about a smile either, lol.

He had everything, safety, short and long shot, very good tactical playet, where as davies didnt quite match up to Hendry.

Davis, his creativity around the stack and other games. Hendry may have better record but overall, Davis.

As hendry came after davis and if you accept progression
with the players generally then it must be hendry and he is still there

Steve Davis changed the game of snooker, nudging balls around the pack to create breaks, fantastic safety, definitely better than SH at his peak.

Hendry, one mistake and it was game over.
Even if you had left a reasonable safety shot that needed a very long, very accurate pot it was in.
Davies you had a bit of leeway with how many mistakes you could make.
