Not all brides are beautiful ... in the same way that not all grooms are handsome!!! It's just an expected and polite convention that guests at weddings tell the bride she looks beautiful!!! There is also the notion that beauty is 'in the eye of the beholder' and that beauty is 'not skin deep'. Some of the most beautiful people I know are not traditionally what could be called 'good looking' but because they are so beautiful on the inside, they radiate that on the outside too. Basically, you need to get to know a person on the inside to be able to tell if they are beautiful or not.

Anything beautiful will wilt if abused and not treated properly. Something about in the eye of the beholder comes to mind! Rather cruel joke though.. at least the brides start off beautiful haven't heard such a comment about the handsome grooms? Do they just start off and remain ugly?

Ugly wives come from stupid husbands who don't help out with housework and raising the children. The only way for a bride to remain a beautiful wife is to be an intelligent husband who helps out EQUALLY around the house and with the kids.
The difference between ugly and stupid is easy. You can fix ugly, but you can't fix stupid!

A bride and a wife are different. Brides are pretty. They are wearing a pretty dress worth hundreds of dollars. They have gotten their hair and makeup done too. A lot went into making them pretty on that day.
But wives, well they just don't have the luxury of going through all that on a daily basis.
