Satan's way of misleading.

Mat 7:15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

Such began all the way back in the Apostle Paul's time, when he said that it was as if he had worked for nothing, because they had returned to the rituals, observances, and holidays of men. In the third century, the Greek Orthodox broke off because they wanted to celebrate Christmas on January 5th, on a Greek Holiday, rather than December 25, which came from the Roman Solstice celebration. If you go to Greece or Russia, they still do celebrate it on January 5th. They also have a different day for Easter.

Once a leader who began the religion dies, divisions take place and someone new wants to be the leader, so they have an inspiration giving off into a new religion.

With the exception of one, every religion has experienced a group branching off within 50 years of their beginning. The one that has not seen that is over 100 years old and is challenged a lot on here.

There are a lot of religions, and a lot of sects of the Christian faith. Some sects are no more different other than the style of worship (some raise hands, some bow heads, etc) but some believe that God was once a man, and became a god after he died, and some believe that Jesus was not God's son, but an angel.

Many religions are born a day, many die out every day. They make no sense because they are man's way to reach God. Even the sects within the banner of Christianity (and in only that these call themselves Christian, not that they did have anything in common with common theology) coem and go. One thing stays the same within these false religions, they are basically the same idea, mans way to reach God.

Well, actually, you are asking two different questions.

The major religions of the world are God's Covenant with humanity. He has promised never to leave man to himself ... without guidance from God. If you look at religious history as a whole, you'll see that every 500 to 1000 years God sends a new Messenger to reveal new guidance for that particular age. Krishna, Abraham, Buddha, Zoroaster, Moses, Jesus Christ, Mohammed, The Bab and Baha'u'llah are some of His Messengers.

The different churches, however, are a different story. Churches are specific to Christianity. When Jesus Christ revealed His revelation for mankind it was like a pure and perfect spring of fresh water pouring forth from a pure and perfect Source. As the water (the Revelation of Christ) moved further and further downstream (through the ages) it became more and more polluted (man's self-serving interepretations of the Word of God). Some religious leaders, in an effort to clean up the waters, began to branch out and begin their own churches which espoused their own interpretations and doctrine. Hence, there are now thousands of Christian sects. Best bet (if you're a Christian) is to stick to the Word of God revealed by Jesus Christ and close your ears to human interpretation. He will, no doubt, guide you aright.

Concerning Christians, 1 Cor. 1:10 says: "You should all speak in agreement , and that there should not be divisions among you, but that you may be fitly united in the same mind and in the same line of thought." Since not all professed Christians speak in agreement, some of them are not following the teachings of Christ. For instance: the Bible teaches at John 13:35 that love would be an identifying mark of Christianity. Jesus said that his followers should love one another and even their enemies. Has that been the case with all professed Christians? No, because many of them are in the armed services right now and are involved in killing their fellowman.

The Bible says at 1 Cor.6:10 that homosexuality is wrong. However, many professed Christians are gay, and their clergymen are pushing the government to change laws that prohibit same-sex marriages.

Many "Christians" meddle in politics, even though Jesus said his followers should be no part of the world.

The only real Christians are the ones that worship God with "spirit and truth" as found in the Bible. See John4:24.

Jesus said in Matthew 24:24 (referring to the time of the end and what would come about)

FROM WHENCE THEY CAME:

"For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect - if that were possible. See, I have told you ahead of time."

Revelation Chapter 18 tells of her (false religion) fate:

WHITHER THEY GO:

"Fallen, Fallen is Babylon the Great! She has become a home for demons and a haunt for every evil spirit, a haunt for every unclean and detestable bird. For all the nations have drunk the maddening wine of her adulteries. The kings of the earth committed adulter with her, and the mechants of the earth grew rich from her excessive luxuries."

"Come out of her my people, so that you will not share in her sins, so that you will not receive any of her plagues; for her sins are piled up to heaven and God has remembered her crimes."

"Woe! Woe, O great city, O Babylon, city of power! In one hour your doom has come!"

(She, Babylon the Great, False Religion is going to be destroyed.)

Keep reading all of Rev. 18 and you will see how.

People look for comfort and assurance in religion because of the promise of the after-life. I guess they figure they screwed the present life up so bad it's beyond repair. So let's find a place that will pat me on the head and tell me that God loves me and it'll be okay if you do this...or this.... If you don't like the "this" then you find a church with the "this" that you like. Get it? Neither do I, that why I'm forming the Church of Reason and Common Sense.

The world has a variety of religions and beliefs due to the plurality of the world. No religion is a one size fits all and can meet the needs and beliefs of everyone. Anyone who believes in a single religion that fits everyone is deluded. Variety is the spice of life. When you meet someone with different beliefs, listen to them and appreciate their religious flavor. Think of it in terms of food. Not everyone likes steak. Does that mean that steak is bad? Maybe I like seafood more... Neither of them are wrong or bad. We just have different tastes.

People can't agree for long enough not to want to create a variation on a theme.
