She can see her doctor and get pain medicine and muscle relaxors. They are the only things that actually do help. I pulled a muscle recently and this worked perfectly and I was able to function day to day and do lite work. The doctor also advised me to lose my big fat belly. As if - he actually thinks that I have control over that. I take 15 pills in the morning and 8 at night and every single one causes weight gain.

I can offer some suggestions, and I hope they are helpful.
My work demands a lot of physical activity. Some of my co-workers have back problems, some more severe than others.
I found that those who are overweight get more back problems.
So, lets make sure mom has a good diet consisting of lots of fruits and vegetables, multi-vitamin per day, use of garlic often.
Now, since she has a muscle problem, I would try moltrin. It works for me when I have an occasional spasm.
When she begins feeling better, that's the time to make sure she gets enough exercize, and again, watch her diet.
Eliminate sugar altogether, if you can.
Substitute honey instead.
Good luck and Good Health!

Pain pills--ibuprophen, tylenol. Muscle relaxers. Ice or heat--whichever feels best. Rest for 2-3 days but no longer or the pain will only last longer. One thing I do when I'm in really bad pain is lay in the floor and put my legs up on a chair or something--this really seems to help.

she should probably take some Ibprofin, and use a heating pad on the sore muscles, not alot you can do with a pulled muscle except time to heal and keep the swelling down, plenty of fluid intake also helps alot.
