It sounds like you're either a new travel agent or trying to become one.
The needs and wants of your client are the ONLY important things. We all sell the exact same products, so how you interface and provide service to your client is the only commodity that sets us apart from one another.
It is, however, also critical that you know your destinations very well - in order to match your client's needs and wants to a particular destination. Do not let a higher commission sway your decision (for example, putting a Sr. couple on Carnival rather than Holland America, because Carnival is offering a higher commission). Yes, you may get the first sale, but what you want is the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. I'm very up-front with my clients and let them know that - they seem to appreciate it.
Go ahead and disregard what your client wants - that will be the last time you'll ever see them - and rest assured, they'll find a travel agent that listens.

It depends which side of the fence you are. Are you a travel agent? The you need to advertise all the deals, destination etc.
you can offer. If you are a guide or a tour operator you need to find out what tourists needs and expectations are.
