just try and get over your anxiety. Go somewhere you really want to go, and bring a friend you really trust, then just hold out against the anxiety until take-off and then you will have no choice. Eventually your body will become exhausted from the anxiety and you will have no choice but to relax. Have a few drinks before getting on the plane if you think it will help.

There are several ways to go about it. Depending on where you live, you can sometimes find classes or sessions on flying that focus on the "fear factor". They will introduce you to how airplanes work, and go through things like cabin evacuation drills and all that stuff. It helps because when you go to the airport, everything will be familiar.
If this isn't an option in your area, first go to a doctor and see about getting something to help control the anxiety. Then you might want to get some time in a small plane with an instructor so you can understand how aviation works. It will also help you build familiarity with it so you don't react. If it helps, there are plenty of women out there who are certified flight instructors, so you can find someone with whom you can develop a good rapport.
It is possible to overcome this fear. A friend of mine was terrified about flying, and very stressed because her husband was a pilot. So she ended up taking some flying lessons, and that helped her relax and realize that there wasn't really anything to worry about.

There are therapists that can help with anxiety attacks and most are very effective. Usually anxiety is induced through talk therapy about flying until the level of comfort or ability to withstand anxiety is reduced because it can be demonstrated that there is little to fear. Some actually help their clients reduce stress in the final stage by taking them on a small flight.
Good luck.

You need a LOT of money and time to take a cruise ship. They are slow and luxurious, so it's like purchasing accommodation & food at a fancy hotel for the number of nights that you'll be on the ship. Try learning how airplanes work and what kind of safety features they have installed, and that might help you overcome your fear of flying.

well, you can try a cruise ship or you can get a tranquilizer to calm your nerves for flying. The best way to get over a fear is to confront it. If you have anxiety attacks, then a tranquilizer should help the first few times you fly, and after that you should be fine.

It depends where you live. If you live in the UK, you have the option of road and rail travel to get you to Europe and boat to other areas. If you live in USA, there is always Canada, Mexico and various other areas in South America, which can be reached by road or water. If you are in Australia or New Zealand, apart from air travel, a boat is the only other alternative.

1)practice visits to your local airport as often as you can and watch planes take off, land
2) listen to weather reports (even in bad weather, the likelihood of a plane malfunctioning is minimal)
3) visit air shows
4) look at planes in the sky when they happen to be flying over you
5)if you survive these experiences, you are ready to travel....
be conscious of your breathing as you do all the above! so you can tell yourself to breathe deeply ...

Two choices here which I'm sure you've already figured out for yourself:: Sign up for counseling & therapy to help you get over your fear, or resign yourself to the slow (and usually more expensive) method - by sea.
