Should paedophiles have to do something for the community?

Should paedophiles who are found guilty and jailed have to do something useful for society....For instance.clearing minefield in Iraq and Afghanistan? What do you think.

The first step in protecting children from these types of people are the parents of said children. Making sure from the 'get-go' that there is open comunication between the children and parents. There are no secrets between them.
You have to build a strong trust with your children.
Where they can come and talk to you about ANYTHING.
There is probly no more of it going on now as was 40 years ago.
But now you have the world media reporting every case that comes up.
So if you live in "No-Where Idaho.On the TV you will hear of cases in Florida, New York, even in Asia.
It seems that ALL of society is going into the waste basket.
Where in reality...how many have you heard about happening in your local?
If it has happened in your local? Ask this.
What did the parent/guardians do,or did not do, to possibly prevent it? What social upbringing did the child get? Was this child taught to be leary of strangers? Or question the demands of a family friend or relative?
One way is to teach the children NO ONE can/should touch them where their underwear or swimsuit covers. Except maybe a doctor. And that is with a parent present.
Now that the laws have focused on this crime more then what was 40 years ago. And they get stricter and stricter each time.
Has anyone noticed that more and more victims are turning up dead? Instead of being alive to eventually report it?
Think about it... This guy rapes a child. Left alive. This kid can send him to prison...for-sure.
Now if he kills the child?
1: Gets rid of the primary witness against him.
2: If he does get caught,tried and convicted?
He goes to prison on the murder charge. Which means death row and solitary confinement. Instead of into the gerneral prison population where he will probly be killed anyway but in a slow and tortured way.
There are some that say "Yes". "That way we know our children are safe." Yes safe,for now, from the ones in prison.
But what about the ones possibly living in your neighborhood that have not been caught yet.? Or possibly the one that just moved into the house next door? Or the new spouse of your sister or brother. Or if you are divorced with children. What about your new spouse?
Our children will never be safe if you depend on the system and it's laws to do it. Laws are made to deal with a crime after it was commited. Not prevent it.
It is up to you as a parent or guardian to do the extra effort to prevent anything like this from happening to your children.
All the prevention is in your hands. No one elses.

Here we go again. Daily paedophile question, same essentially poorly thought out answers. We still live with an imperfect judicial system, as we did yesterday, the day before, and back to the beginnings of time. As long as that pertains, and I think it inevitably will, because we are human, and humans make mistakes, innocent people will find themselves being tried in courts of law, and being found guilty "beyond any reasonable doubt". Some of those INNOCENT people, along with the guilty ones, will serve their full prison terms and be released into a society which, with you lot among it, is incredibly dangerous for them. Those people will not ever be found to have suffered the miscarriage of justice that they have, and will always remain fearful of YOUR "rightful" vengeance - even though they know they did no harm to children. Others will, with the passage of time, and good lawyers have the truth (that they did no wrong) revealed. The stigma they carry will remain with them. At this point someone usually assumes that I am in favour of paedophillia - I AM NOT. I strongly against the expoitation of children in any way whatever, and firmly believe that paedophiles should receive severe sentences. I just acknowledge what most of you seem incapable of seeing - we make mistakes, which is O.K., and a human failing after all, but when someone else is made to suffer for society's errors, we better be pretty darned sure that suffering is reversible in some small way. What do you say to the guy/gal you got it wrong about in your justified rage, after you've branded/tortured/beaten/killed them??????

ok, to an extent i agree with the person that said we make mistakes, but surely there has to be enough doubt for that person to be convicted,

now my opinion is that it should be proven beyond any doubt, and when that happens it should be a mandatory death sentence but having to serve 25 years in a normal high security prison on the same wing as any other prisoner. then gas them.

children are defenseless and for these scourge of humanity to prey on them, then the punishment should fit the crime and some.

same for murderers, an eye for an eye.

as for them doing something for the community, no i don't think they should ever be released into civilisation, but i do think that they should be the ones in iraq and afghanistan and any other warzone, instead of the innocent lads/lasses that are out there just now dieing for pretty much nothing.

may i hasten to add i was in the first gulf war, op telic.

if they are proven beyond any doubt then realistically there is no punishment really fits the crime but a long term prison sentence and death penalty would be good for starters,

oh they would have basic cells and basic bread and water, they don't deserve any better, zero priviledges, and cells unlocked for most of the day, who knows they may never reach the chamber lol

I think that if they have been convicted then they should never, never be released, they are never going to change. They should all live in a seperate community and never be allowed to mix with families of young children. They should be tagged so that we know exactly where they are at all times. They should be made to work so that they cannot claim benefit and should be given all the rotten jobs that nobody wants. The public should always know who these people are and they should never be allowed to live a normal existance. To take away any childs innocence is totally unforgivable and we should never let them forget it.

yes pedophiles should have to do something for the community and for the world and that is too participate in a research study of pedophiles.
you see i agree with all the people i hear that say i person would have to be sick to do something like that.
unlike most of those people i think that the pedophiles should be in a separate setting from prison . that place would be a totally secure in closed mass of land that is guarded so well no one could escape. while in the place the people would first get 0 privileges then receive one for each time take part in one of the studies.
at no time no time at all the people would leave the place.
the only possible way for even one of them to leave would be if
researchers around the world all agreed that they have a real cure for them .

Sorry folks, I am in disagreement with most answers.
Life imprisonment does not break any laws and it will
give them plenty of time to think about their actions.
Once imprisoned they should be made to clean the
toilets and the rest of the compound, so this would
keep them busy all day. Above all, I don‘t think they
would be respected by the other inmates who would
make their lives into a living hell.
