Friend you have a very good point here. Yes people would rather believe a lie, than accept the written word of God. You can quote a verse & they deny it But someone else can tell them a lie & they acept it. That is why the Bible also says that they will believe a lie & be Damed

This is very true.... there is no scriptural reference that refers to her as a prostitute. The scriptures do record that Jesus cast 7 demons from her. Many people especially in the Catholic church believe those 7 demons were the seven deadly sins, and that she had been a prostitute which allowed her to be possessed by these demons.
However this is nothing more than speculation on their part because she is not refered to anywhere in the scriptures as such.

When you post such things, it is necessary for you to back it up with the scripture, or you will not be able to make your point...This is where you will find that scripture...
Mark 16:9 Now when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had cast seven devils.
This took place after Jesus arose from the dead.

Ania's answer is totally untrue. The Catholic Church has never formally taught that Mary Magdalene was definitely a prostitute.
Nor have they ever "demeaned" her -- Mary Magdalene was canonized as a saint by the Church very early in its history. Hardly the treatment a woman would receive if the Church was bent on "demeaning" her.

As you have pointed out the Bible never says that she is a prostitute, although that does not stop it from being taught in Sunday schools everywhere.
God Bless,

Well all I know is I was taught at school (by a Reverend) that she was a prostitute, maybe there are several interpretations. The Bible has that problem, so many people can read it so many different ways!

The Catholic Church is now saying she was not a prostitute. The church had always said this to demean her. They did not like the idea of the woman having any importance in their religion, as one of the apostles.

For many it is easier to go with the flow and fit in than it is to be personally responsible and stand in the light of The Truth.

Many say something is not in the Bible. When I know it is.
And something is. But if I ask where, they cannot find it.
