If you call her "bird", you'll be asking for trouble! Bird is a very slangy word for "girl", often "girlfriend" and you'd not call somone by saying "girl!" in English - it would be insulting (calling Fraulein! dyevushka!, signorina! mademoiselle! are polite in other languages, but not English). You might hear "I saw him with some bird", in which case it is as neutral as girl.
If you were a man, you'd be likely to use it to talk about a girlfriend: "she's my bird!", "I'll have to talk to my bird" etc. are common uses. It's a slightly macho word, but not nasty.
Like all slang, if you're not English and want to use it, listen carefully to your English friends - if they use it, then you can. If they don't, you'll probably sound an idiot to them: people either like or hate this word.

Nothing.
It's colloquial for girl, lady, chick, babe or whatever word you use when referring to females. Also a girlfriend, eg My bird! That's my girlfriend, don't touch!
You see it depends on the person saying it and to whom and in what context.
But otherwise
bird is the word
and the word is bird.

The term "bird" is derivied from an "byrd" from the Middle Ages. It was simply a name for a young single woman.
These days people think it is sexist etc,but it really isn't.

It's a *very slightly* derogatory term for a female, usually an unattached female.
You can use the term around male friends who know what you mean. Don't use the term around any female
