i normally don't drink diet beverages because of the "fake sweetners" but last night someone brought over an iced tea drink and poured a huge glass, she didn't know herself it was diet, right away i tasted the difference and the aspartane but i didn't want to be rude so i drank the glass, now i'm up in the middle of the night with a headache / migraine (the tylenol didn't help either)
does this happen to anyone else?

That's actually a common problem. While, I don't have a problem drinking diet sodas, a couple of friends of mine do. One of them can't even chew sugar free gum because of the aspartane gives him a BAD headache.

It's ok, you'll be fine. If it happens again, take something a little stronger, maybe Excedrine.

Just try to avoid the "fake sweeteners" ... but you already know that. And if offered one, be honest and nicely explain why you have to turn it down, but really appreciate the offer.

Diet coke contains caffeine so you are probably suffering from withdrawal symptoms. This explains the headaches. Don't worry, the symptoms will last no longer then two to three days. After that you will feel much better and coke-free. Also, go easy on the water. If you drink too much of the stuff over a short period of time you can get very ill. Best wishes

Many people have reactions to the sweeteners used in diet drinks. Simple answer is to avoid things with artificial sweeteners and see if the headaches stop

Not to me... I drink diet and use artificial sweeteners all the time. All diet drinks and sweeteners have a warning on them, so I'd say "yes, it happens to some people" and you must be one of them..

The answer is aspertane.. This stuff is bad news, it can give headaches, and for my dad, he vomits and his legs hurt with the headache.. If you have too much aspertane your muscles become weak, and you arnt very healthy, try to stay away from that artificial stuff, but in todays age all you get is artificial sweetner or corn serup..

............right probably had aspartame...which was proven to cause problems. Aspartame does that to me.

Perhaps you need to try ones made with Splenda....it is real sugar derrivitive that has 0 calories...and good taste.
