My girlfriend and I sleep on a very uncormfortable spring mattress, we both wake up with back horrible back pain. It is not worth it to buy a better mattress because we are only staying here two months, but are considering an air mattress, would this be better? Please don't just say yes or no, tell us why.

A "GOOD" quality air mattress can be good/bad for you. If you fill it too tight it will not contour to your body and will be like sleeping on the hard floor. If you fill it just so it gives where your pressure points hit and support you it will be good. It should support you comfortably but not bottom out when you kneel on it.

If you can afford it buy a good queen bed and take it with you when you move. The pillow on the floor makes sense accept that they will move as you do and you will be fighting them all night and you will be sore AND tired in the morning.
Good luck!

First of all you're lucky you have a girlfriend that you sleep with, good for you. You should have told us a budget- I've had the same problem, and you know what I found was better? Couch pillows on the floor. The floor offers the hard support you need, and the pillows the soft support. That's if you dont' have a budget.

If you do, spend $500 on a queen mattress and then find a way to take it with you. I just got one of those, man do I sleep well, and no back problems.

air matress is ok for short term.
Long term use is no good as it has no support for dead weight (sleeping)
As this is the heviest your body is when you sleep.
The matress cannot form to your body properly as only air is inside.
