What is the correct way of pronouncing the word "palm" in "palm top"? Should I "ignore" the "l" and say something like "päm"?

Paaaahm- you ignore the L sound and elongate the A sound. The a in this case is pronounced as in the A in "Answer"

no, sweetie. you have to pronounce the "l" in the word palm. check the oxford dictionary.

yup, the l is sort of silent, but the a goes as in the a in "darling". (ä, as you wrote it, would sound more like the e in desk). So.. pahhm is more like it!
