resize them in photo software - the smaller the photo - the smaller the kb size.
you could also try email them to yourself through outlook - it offers to reduce the size for you to make them smaller.then upload the reduced file

You can use the jpeg format with the progressive scanning option activated. It preserves the image quality and it reduces the size up to 30-40 %. The problem is that there still are softwares and other devices that still don't recognize progressive jpg scanning. Another option will be Luraware. It has a good compression, similar with jpg but with better image quality. The problem it's freware only for converting files not larger then 800*600. If they are larger then this you need to buy the software!

One way is to convert the file to a jpg using a photo editing software. You can also reduce the picture size.

You can reduce them in paint that is already in your computer.
But to control and reduce the image and file size to exactly how you want you will have to use an image reducing program.
Take a look at the link below for free progs that will do this.
I have downloaded many programs from this site and regard it as a trusted site
On my own web site i never have any images above 50 kb as not everybody has broadband and time to sit and wait while they download

Save all the hassle first, see if your camera will reduce the resolution before you take the picture.
If not, try one of the above.

i use PaintShopPro which allows resizing & saving as a JPG
if you don't have this software ... try this free web software (see link)
i have just tried it, and it seems to work fine & is free
- you need to read the instructions & you might need to do it a couple of times to get it absolutely right
- you can also crop pictures, rotate them etc., so this is really handy

Either get paint shop pro 8 or 9 software download full or trial from jasc software at corel,
http://www.corel.com
Open up your photo and export it to a jpeg you can down size whilst keeping the aspect to ratio as much as you can without distorting the photo so much so that you can't see it properly, if you do by chance down size it too much you can click on undo up to 3 times to amend any mistakes! Go on have a crack at it, it's very easy to use and the software is lots of fun you can animate you pics and writing etc. If you do have problems using it I recommend you go talk to a friend of mine that runs a group on paint shop in msn groups. http://groups.msn.com/PSP8fordummies
