The 3 centuries being ruled by the Catholic church that is still in conjunction with the government. The protestant churches and many missionaries coming there that are viewed as instigators and some look at as evil. The Church of Christ that has even spread from Manila to the USA, seems as a cult. It depends on what "the church" means to you.

Catholic church - Too bossy on political front.
Church of Christ - Liar. Watch how they manipulate those video tapes to put down their religious rival.
The Old Path - Their religious vigor and knowledge centered on one preacher. I suspect this religion is co-terminus with his ability as preacher.
El Shaddai - Little biblical, more cults.
Born Again - Banking on miracles all the time. A losing presidential born again candidate was "being cheated in election in spite of the prophesy of his winnings".


Religions are killing this country.

From observation I would say that most churches in the Philippines have perhaps complicated their own position through compromise and possible over extension of their authority.
