I was told to finish my drink and leave by the new 'assistant manager'.of my local pub. I asked why and she said because 'quote''It seems ive been saying I would never drink there again'.'unquote'
As my daughter was playing her first ever gig in the pub I asked if I could stay to listen and she said NO.
Im told she just doesnt like me by the locals .who are all my friends and stand by me.
Can I sue the brewery for this? I have never caused any trouble in this pub. I was humiliated and embarrassed in front of my daughter. As it was my daughters very first singing gig I feel really cheated as I can never get this night back again, Can I be barred just because she doesn't like me? Have I got any rights? Oh by the way she is now dating my ex !!!

as long as the assistant manager had been given the authority to bar someone then they are perfectly within the law.

you could try talking to someone at the brewery but i doubt it will help

it also depends on what sort of pub it is, if its a family run pub with the tenants living on the premises then the pub itself is classed as their 'home' thats why they have the right to refuse without reason ( as long as it is not racial or discrimatory)

they can just say they dont want you in there

town pubs and clubs might be looked at slightly different if nobody lives on the premises

if i was you i would try and appeal to her better nature (if she has one lol)

Yes she can bar you and does not need to give a reason.First complain to THE MANAGER. However as there seems to be an underlying personal reason then, if the brewery owns the pub and it is not owned by a licensee, then a letter to the brewery could be a way of remedying the situation. Tell this assistant manager what you are going to do and assure her that it is not a bluff and see what the reaction is. If she offers no compromise then send the letter.

No, she cannot bar you because she does not like you. Take it up with the brewery, and make sure that when you do, you have all your friends to back you up. Fight it to the last, because in the end the brewery will speak to her. Have you spoken to the manager? If he knows you well, I am sure that he will also speak to her. Tell him that you WILL go to the brewery with character witnesses if need be. It is obvious that your ex is behind all this, so tell himwhat you intend to do. By the way, why did'nt your mates all leave the pub too when this happened? But stick by your guns and do'nt let this person tread on you. Let us know what happens.

I'm afraid that yes, you can just because she doesn't like you. The brewery, assuming it is a brewery pub, won't be interested, and your only recourse is to appeal to the landlord/manager, because they're the person ultimately responsible for who can come in and who can't.

Sorry to hear you missed your daughter's first gig, but that's the way that it is.

BTW, I used to be a pub landlord.

Seems you're both being a bit petty and childish. Did you do something obnoxious, or were you loudly proclaiming your dislike for the place? Seems a bit odd that she would kick up a fuss on that important day. What did your daughter say about the incident? If I were you, despite your obvious rage, I would try and forget the incident and just get on with your life.

If the locals are your friends and will stand by you, you should all find a new pub. It shouldn't take long for management to get the message.

You can of course get in touch with the head office of the brewery that owns the pub.

Put your side to them in writing and wait for a response.

the laws here are:-
pub is a private place and management can ban anyone - provided it is not based on discriminatory basis or prejudice.
If what you say is true - it would be unlawful to bar you without a reasonable cause.
I doubt you could sue the brewery unless they know of or condone the managment behaviour

You have no rights at all. The law gives bar staff a lot of discretion. The best thing to do would be go over her head, complain to the landlord/brewery.
