I recently watched the South Park episode about Mormons and I was just curious because... well although MOST of the information is far-fetched it isn't too far from the truth. So one of them must be familar with the religion, somewhat. I was talking with a couple friends and they said one of them grew up Mormon but fell away from the church. I dunno.. I was just curious...

well i don't know anything about Mormons, i like to know about religions and HATE it when people make fun of it.
BUT when i saw the South Park episode about Mormons, i thought it was something they just made because i thought they wouldnt mock a religion that harshly, boy was i wrong, anyway i found the the song 'Dumb Dumb Dumb' quite catchy and funny. now i feel bad because its about a religion.

they funniest part was when he calls someone to write down whatever he translates from the plates, and the guy is like 'well that sounds a little 'DUMB DUMB DUMB (song)'

Sorry for a late answer, from what I understand, (rumor only) the main reason they make fun of the church is two fold. First, South Park is censored on cable in Utah. There is (or was) only one TV cable provider in Utah and it censored that show. So the Creators did a little retaliation, can't say I blame them and I'm Mormon. Second, some (not all) members of the church are very stiff and are, well, easy to make fun of. Even other members of our own church make movies poking fun at these people (ourselves).

It is important to not that South P{ark tends to poke fun at all types of religion, sex, race, and any other taboo subject, but the LDS church does seem like a top one though.

Personally I don't it find offensive; just a humoristic, and somewhat statistic view. Jospeh Smith with Ice vision, cool! And even they said we're the only ones going to heaven, punch and cookies anyone? LOL

Wouldn't surprise me the way they make fun of mormons. Have you ever seen orgasmo? It's a movie they made a long long time ago. They make fun of mormons pretty hard in that too.

Neither one has anything in their biographies to indicate that they were Mormons at one time.
