First of all, NEVER EVER beat your dog, that is not the answer. Screaming at him and spanking him will only lead to further aggression from his part, too. Dogs are sensitive to the owner's feelings and the more anxiety you display, the more he will bark and act crazy. Try to be calm, but firm with him (but without yelling) so the dog understands that you don't need his protection in that particular situation (because his instincts are to protect you). And don't forget that any behavioral problems a dog has are usually the owner's fault (lack of training, aggressiveness etc.).

Beating an animal? You have no patience..your animal takes after you. Someone mentioned a muzzle...you can't muzzle a dog for very long..they have to pant. Try tuning into the Dog Whisperer on Animal Planet for training tips. Walk your dog every day to rid it of excess energy. Find a pooch park with other dogs to socialize your animal. Dogs talk just like people do...alerting you that someone is there can be a good thing...Maybe the dog would be better with a blind person.
Try teaching the dog "no" or "cease"...is probably impossible for you because what about beating an animal don't you understand. Never ever beat anyone or anything.
Others will tell you to get a no bark collar but any loud noise sets the collar off and shocks the dog unnecessarily. Your dog will be so screwed up no one will want it.
Maybe people should READ training manuals BEFORE getting an animal.
I don't know but I tried to get my boyfriend to shut up and the only thing that works is peanut butter...then I dumped him. I would never do that to a dog.
A dog only knows what you teach him..take the time to learn or find your animal a home with someone who knows what to do. I can't believe you beat an animal to shut it up. Do you beat children to shut them up too? nooooooooo
Idiots walk among us every day...try not to be one of them

How old is the dog? I'm sure that you don't beat the dog, but you have maybe spanked him????
First, try to be calm and assertive, keep your voice normal. That will get his attention quickly, because he's used to you getting excited and so he gets excited and then wa-la the noise gets too much and then it's like a screaming match between you and the dog.
I have a noise I make that my dogs hear above everything else and they pay close attention to it...they know. I also have a hand gesture that I use to make them go outside and shut up and that works well. No voice....no noise.
Calm, assertive and low voice, give it a try and see what happens, once you have the dogs attention, remind him that you are the leader of the pack.

Sorry but would you stop complaining if someone beat you, you never beat dogs and if you find this a suitable punishment then my suggestion to you is to find your dog a home with someone who will love him unconditionally without beating him for barking, is it any wonder you dog is barking,

Please don't beat your dog. It doesn't help, you'll just lose it's trust. Research in Taiwan showed some positive feedback with - Loosely tie a small bell (like a bell you'll put on a cat's collar) around your dogs neck with a collar. If this doesn't help you can try to put a cap or hat or something humane on the dog's head for a few minutes, this will distract him from barking. Usually animals don't like getting dressed and will stand still for a while. You can just try it. I hope it works. Don't forget to take it off afterwords.

you are obviously totally unintelligent. Find your dog a new home because you are not only stupid but cruel too.
Also I use people like the 'puppy lady' as a prime example as to why dog trainers should be licenced and have to pass an exam' before they inflict themselves and their brutish and cruel so called training methods on poor dogs.

You should never beat a dog for any reason that can make them turn aggressive, if the dog doesn't listen to you then it's confused about who's in charge in your house.

Some breeds are more vocal than others.
There are a lot of training options but since you chose beating first, maybe you should give the dog to someone who can actually take care of him properly.
