Eat fresh fruits, fresh vegetables (you can steam them). Meat salmon, chicken breast, turkey, lean beef, very light on the pork. Eat portions no larger than a deck of cards.
THESE ARE THE NO ITEMS;
No Fried foods.
No Fast food at all.
No prepared mixes at all.
No soft drinks, drink lots of water juices cut slightly with cold water. It is better for you to eat whole fruit than to drink juices. They are high sugar and low fiber.
No junk food at all. Although I have found rice crackers and rice cakes (flavored) make a good crunchy snack. Gensoy makes a good soy/potato baked chip that is good. No oil, very spunky flavor, garlic and Parmesan.
Eat from all colors, Protein, green veggies, red, yellow, orange fruits and vegetables.If you cut out most of the white starches, you will find you don't use butter or margarine on much of anything.
The assortment of colors give you all of your nutrients. Hopefully this will give you someplace to start.
If you have lots of snack and junk food in your pantry and refrigerator, purge, purge. Take grocery bags and bag up all of the snack items, candies, sweetened cereals. READ THE LABELS, YOU WANT LOW SUGAR, LOW FAT. Then you can give these all to a school drive or a soup kitchen or charity.
But you have to get all the BAD food out or you will always be tempted.
GOOD LUCK.

People trying to lose weight generally need to change their eating habits and create a new lifestyle of eating habits. Don't think of yourself as dieting. Another helpful tip is not to always be weighing yourself. In fact, start some new habits and changes and don't weigh in for at least 2 months if you can hold out that long. Start slow; ex. if you drink whole milk drop down to 1% for awhile, then go to skim milk. If you are a big soda drinker, start replacing water for the soda. Believe me, once you get a taste for water, water is what you will always want. Dieting is something you do for awhile and then go back to your old habits. Changing is changing and learning to live with those changes that are good for you.
