Conversely, would you, being a female, want to share a slit trench with a male?
You're in the combat arms. You're on active duty or on exercise. You end up with someone from the opposite sex. There are limited facilities. Would you be comfortable sleeping; eating; and of course, fight from the same place? Would gender roles crop up? Man trying to protect the woman? Cat and dog fights? Is having co-ed combat units working?

DURING AN ACTUAL FIRE FIGHT I DON'T CARE WHO IS IN THE FOXHOLE WITH ME AS LONG AS THEY KNOW AND CAN ACCOMPLISH THEIR JOB . I'VE SHARED TENTS WITH GROUPS OF BOTH MALE AND FEMALE , PROFESSIONALISM IS THE KEY . AS FAR AS COMBAT ARMS GO HOWEVER IT IS A LITTLE TRCKIER , NO OFFENSE TO ANYONE ,BUT CERTAIN FEMALES CANNOT HANDLE THAT TYPE OF SITUATION . ( SOME MALES CAN'T EITHER ) IT IS NOT AN EASY THING TO BE INFANTRY . ALWAYS MOVING AND NOT A GREAT AMOUNT OF "FACILITIES" WOULD MAKE IT VERY HARD ON MOST WOMEN , AS WELL AS THE FACT THAT YOU CARRY A LOT OF WEIGHT CONSTANTLY . TO BRING THIS TO A CONCLUSION , IN THE HEAT OF BATTLE YOU DON'T CARE ABOUT SEX , ON A PERMANENT BASIS THOUGH ... MOST WOMEN CAN'T HANDLE IT .

i n the heat of battle, u wont think of sex.....sharing a slit trench wid an opposite sex doesnt matter as long as effective fire is brought down on the enemy..........
but i certainly disagree with the concept of women in d armed forces.....especially the combat arms like infantry, artillary etc....armies all over the world are build on rich traditions and astounding spirit of chevelory and the role of women has never been felt in the services. It is only now, with the growing rates of unemployment that women have started venturing into this new field.and demanding more and more year by year...imagine your Army chief being a women.......!!!!!!!! some people say that they are good for backoffice operations or in other words softer jobs or static places, but mind it my dear, it is only at the cost of a combatant soldier..... cheers!

In a bad spot, underfire, in a hole...possibly pinned...I know that person now has to fight to stay alive- so no, I being a man- have no problem fighting next to a woman who is in a bad spot- her resolve I'm sure is as determined as mine to live. She shares the same knowledge as I on how to use her rifle, so what- many women today say they would go right on into the thick of things anyway. All Im saying is, no I would not even consider how backward, or wierd it might be, but rather try to assure myself that she will do whatever she can to win the moment and beat the enemy, just as I.

as an army mp,i work with females everyday, and have gone to the field with them many times.we sleep in the same tents, fight out of the same trucks and cover each others asses all the time. i never thought this would be possible coming from an all male unit as a corpsman attached to the marine corps, but damn if i wasn't proven wrong. although you still have those out there that will try to screw you over, with the sexual harassment issue if you not careful.

In a trench, fighting for our lives, I bet I would have no problem with sharing a foxhole with a woman...We train together, we fight together.
"And if everything go wrong, if they overcome us, lay on the bottom of your foxhole with your rifle buttstock on your chest, throw your grenade around your position and fire on everything that go over you !"

Most people simply pretend their is no difference between the two, and lock out any attraction that might be there. People do that at work all the time.
