I have been a Bahai for a couple of years; previously i was an athiest. If it comes up in conversation about my beliefs i have found not many people know what the Bahai Faith is. Do you? Have you heard of it before? Whats your perception of it?

I am a Bahai
The Baha'i Faith is the youngest of the world’s independent monotheistic religions. Founded in Iran in 1844, it now has more than 5 million adherents in 236 countries and territories. Baha'is come from nearly every national, ethnic and religious background, making the Baha'i Faith the second-most widespread religion in the world.
Baha'is view all the world's major religions as a part of a single, progressive process through which God reveals His will to humanity. The Founder of the Baha'i Faith, Baha'u'llah (1817-1892), is recognized as the most recent in a line of Divine Messengers that stretches back beyond recorded time and includes Abraham, Moses, Buddha, Zoroaster, Christ and Muhammad. The central theme of Baha'u'llah's message is that humanity is one single race and that the day has come for humanity’s unification into one global society. While reaffirming the core ethical principles common to all religions, Baha'u'llah also revealed new laws and teachings to lay the foundations of a global civilization. “A new life,” Baha'u'llah declares, “is, in this age, stirring within all the peoples of the earth.”

If the Baha'is had anything to do with removing Bible Teachings from your public schools, it would only have been after trying to have all the Teachings of the other religions represented equally. We believe in Jesus and the Bible is ONE of our Holy Books, along with the Holy Books of all the great world religions. We believe if the Bible is taught in public schools, so should the Holy Books of all the great world religions, as they all came from the One and the Same God.
Ramsey--We are pacive activists. We are active in promoting the unity of mankind and peace on this planet. You can't accomplish that by being just a pacifist.
We are not a version of Islam. We sprung OUT of Islam, just as Christianity sprang OUT of Judaism, and Buddhism out of Hinduism. We are an independent world religion; just as are Hinduism, Buddhism, Zoroastrianism, Judaism, Christrianity, Islam and Babiism.
Amiram a--that isn't a temple in Haifa, it's the Shrine of the Bab. We do have a site for a temple to be built in the future. It is the Shrine of Baha'u'llah at Bahji across the bay. I'm so happy you were able to see it.
Before I found the Baha'i Faith, I was as one dead compared to the life I know now.

yes I have heard of the Bahai Faith, I love it, I am not Bahai ( yet) but I might be one day.
I love everything about it, it is new , it is for our time... and it is the way that we have to go...

It would seem it's a Pacifist version of Islam propounded by a gentleman named Baha'ullah; which is banned in the native Iran.

I've heard of Ba'hai faith. There is a Ba'hai group nearby in Kansas City. Honestly, I don't know the first thing about Ba'hai.

I've had dealings with it, they believe everyone is right except those people who don't agree with them. In our area they were the leading force that had the Bible teaching taken out of our public schools. Now go figure, if they believe everyone is right then why would they object o the Bible being taught, unless they believe the Bible is wrong.

I sure did, they have a temple in Haifa, which is very beautiful, and the burial site of the Baha is across the Haifa bay.
