Aside from the fact that nothing about mania is normal, yes. My memories of manias and hypomanias can be sketchy, and this seems to be fairly common, from talking to other bipolars. And yes, the out of body thing is very familiar, too.

I am Bipolar I and I have felt like that alot of times. It's not so much of a memory loss though because I remember. I can't even say if it is part of my manic episodes or my depressive. I never really tried to see what they are related to. I think it may have to do with the fact that I have a milliion different thoughts running around in my head and although I'm doing somethying I am actually fixated on something else. It could be that when I am having those feelings that I really am doing things that I normally wouldn't be doing but I can't stop doing them. I have a habit of cleaning excessively when I am manic and when I'm depressed I'm useless.
I also have these deja vu types of thoughts. Like I can pin point exactly what like if I had done exactly the same thing once before. You could be onto something here but I can only tell you that it has happened to me too.

I have a bi-polar person in my immediate family and he describes the manic phases just like that. He says "It's like I'm out of my body watching, almost from above. I know I'm outta control, but there isn't anything I can do to change it." That's his words exactly. We have discussed this at length.

Very touching and unhappy, i will relate to this poem. once you're in love and you get harm, that's variety of a decrease... it is going to heal, yet there'll continually be a scar .Poems like those makes you sense , as though those deep thoughts that makes you cry are written for you , and that i will say confident they do. My God this heart rending poem have the soreness, the soreness , to make your eyes swell with tears. even though it brings tears to the eyes , it additionally brings convenience, to a minimum of one grieving heart and help one to launch all the pent up thoughts. thank you lots for this placed up.

I don't think loss of memory is associated with memory loss.
I do think out of body experience is associated with mania. I might be mixing it up with depression since mania usually goes hand in hand with depression.

there could be tons of causes. it's happened to me before and was blamed on my meds. i would talk to a doctor, which i assume you have. he (or she) might want to change your meds or do something differently. i've personally never heard of it being related to bipolar disorder, but i'm sure it's entirely possible.
