Was wondering what the onboard entertainment / food / refreshments etc are like? I have never flown with them before.

Flying Heathrow to LAX

The answer completely depends on where you're flying to/from.

EDITED to reply to new information (presuming you are flying in economy):

Fortunately for you will be flying on a 777, one of AA's newer planes. In economy, each person does have their own personal touchscreen monitor, so you can pull up music, whatever movie their playing (sorry, no on-demand movies), destination information, and a map tracking your progress. There's also in-flight magazines... the American Way mag includes a crossword and 3 sudoku puzzles ;).

For meals, you should be getting a main meal (served soon after you depart) and a snack (about 2 hours before landing). A hot towel service is usually performed. Food is... so so. I mean, it's typical airline food, so nothing special (I'd rate the food from LHR to be marginally better than average). Also, they usually set up a self-service snack/water/juice table in the rear by the lavs, so you can help yourself. The galley is also in the rear, and you can ask for anything else you may need.

Service, admittedly, is inconsistent. I've had crews that go though the cabin hourly to check on the passengers and offer water, and I've had other crews who reappear only when necessary (like to serve meals).

Check out this seat map for details on where you should/should not sit: http://www.seatguru.com/airlines/American_Airlines/American_Airlines_Boeing_777-200_A.php

Hope that helps.

I've travelled business class with American Airlines on business trips to the States flying London to the US. The service was pretty good (although I have never flown business class with any other airline so can't compare).

I've also flown AA as a tourist in economy class (the US to Peru). They changed my flight several times (changing from a direct flight to an indirect flight requiring me to change flights at another airport). My baggage missed my connection and arrived at my destination the following day (which they could not guarantee and had problems trying to arrange compensation for having to buy new overnight clothes). Ground staff seemed to have an attitude problem. International poprtion of flight gave me a meal (which I tured down as it was an overnight flight) yet had to pay for breakfast on the domestic portion of my travelling.

Once you're the air the staff do what they can to make your flight comfortable. It's just their management are tight fistedm which also gives their ground staff an attitiude problem. I would not fly AA again if I have the choice.

i trust American Ailines is the ultimate kin global Airline contained in the u . s .. a million) between the ultimate regularly occurring Flyer classes contained in the international! 2) they have routes all around the u . s . and the international with their allicance. (i will use my FF miles to bypass someplace exciting like Europe, Africa, or Asia) 3) they have assorted flights imparting you with a probability to make the flight on your vacation spot because of delays. Cons a million) i hit upon AA is about $10-$25 better extreme priced on some routes. 2) client help has lengthy gone down hill, notwithstanding that's no worse than any of the different important airways, yet I blame Soutwest and the low-cost agencies with that. I extremely were flying with AA for virtually 2 many years when you consider that i develop right into a newborn. I undergo in concepts the customer service and nutrients 12 years in the past and it develop into very very strong. With the boost of low-cost agencies that has lengthy gone out the window. Being on time is of maximum necessity because issues are booked tighter to get better routes. they gained't re-open a gate once closed, no airline does anymore. word to EndlessLaughter, I symphatize including your horendous vacation, yet do you heavily trust you've got had a diverse result on yet another airline? No airline will delay a flight for 12 people because of delays brought about through climate. it would not be straightforward to the only hundred twenty+ people on the airplane. I too have had the form of flight and had to be wait indexed two times. I were up 24 hours till I arrived at my vacation spot. I stay in Frankfurt, Germany and that i develop into flying abode for Christmas to San Antonio, yet Chicago climate develop into negative. After 2 waitlist on behind agenda flights extending me to Dallas, I were given abode 2:30AM. If it were the different airline i do not have made it abode for Christmas. i develop into drained, yet abode with my kinfolk.

Sorry to disappoint for the last couple times I've flown with them they are always late on their landing....not much entertainment same local channel as any other airline, there are no food serve unless you fly for over 6 hs, you'll be lucky if they offered you a soda a bag of peanut.

pretty poor nowadays, used to be okay but now they have gone back to cramped seats and having to pay for drinks, much better airlines available unless they are really cheap
