I remember seeing the film "My Big Fat Greek Wedding," and the character Ian said he had a zit that morning and it went away after putting Windex on it.

I'm not asking for advice on how to get rid of zits; I was just wondering if Windex really worked for getting rid of a zit.

A small drop of low strength ammonia will reduce swelling. That is where the Windex idea came from. If you look at the ingredients on one of this bug bite pain reliever pens, you will see that it is simply ammonia.

Why in the world would a person want to spray Windex on their skin? That movie is a joke.

This is how "old wives tales" gets started, asking questions like this. The next thing or question asked is if it works and how much or how long to use it, really.
