I got my daughter the Fisher Price Ball Blast. She absolutely loved it as it helped her independance when standing up. Since then it's been brought out for all my baby relatives when they visit and she still has the odd go on it now at 2.5 years old!

Don't worry too much about getting him loads of toys- he will get heaps from relatives and friends. Most kids have far more than they need. Get him some beatiful books that you and he will enjoy reading together for years to come. Wrap up 'essentials' like new clothes and shoes so that he has plenty to do- he will help unwrap your presents, too! Also try to 'drag' out the present opening to he has a little every day for a few days, rather than all at once, it gives him time to xplore his new gifts, and ensures they don't get crushed or broken too quickly in the over excitement. And just spend heaps of time enjoying him and his new toys together with your family and friends on the day. It will be great, cos he'll love it whatever- he's too young to know what the coolest toy/ trainers whatever is right now- and that won't last for long!

My mom found this nice train. It is put out by fisher price. It has large colorful animals. It also plays music. I cant remember the name of it. I know my daughter will love it. My three year old is into trains and my mom said this way my daughter would have her own. She e-mail me a picture, since we live in different states. You would be surprised how cute it is. Maybe toys are us has it if not I saw it on Kohls web site. I noticed this is for a son, so I just wanted to mention it is co-ed. Probably my three year old will still try to take it from the one year old. It is that nice. Have a very special Christmas with your one year old. Also, Merry Christmas to all.

He's not really going to understand,so just buy him a few bits that are educational. It does seem like a good idea to spoil a baby for their 1st xmas, but id it really worth it at the end of the day,as the day itself is going to be a huge amount for them to take in.

I bought my son one of those pop-up tents and bag of plastic balls. It cost £13 in all and it's the most played with toy he's ever had! He was one when I bought him that and seven months later he still gets in it with all the balls and his trains and plays for ages. Cheap and cheerful, no point spending loads until next year when he will be excited and have a better understanding of xmas.

My baby girl just turned 1. The things she got for her birthday and loved were stacking cups, books (especially Dr. Seuss!), a little hobby horse, and the best thing was that little push toy that a lot of people had when they were little.. I can't think of what it's called but when you push it on the ground, it makes popping noises, it has marbles inside it that pop up too! I hope you know what I'm talking about! Anyways, have fun!!
Oh yeah, and she LOVES the Wiggles!

It doesn't matter what you get him, he will love the empty boxes and scattered wrapping paper more than ANYTHING else! Both of my kids were like that! I would just get him things he needs like sippy cups, clothes, and maybe a few toys he can grow into, but really, he is never going to ask you what he got for his first Christmas! Save that money for when he is 10 and wants and ipod, a laptop, and a plasma tv! Good Luck and enjoy - it will be gone before you can blink your eyes!

well first of all...don't get him too much!and don't be too disappointed if he's not that interested in the toys you get him.Last year when my son had his 1st b-day,all he was interested in was the boxes and the wrapping paper.
A big teddy to lean against or lie on is good, but it depends what y kind of things your kid reacts to and likes. My son started walking at 10 1/2 months,so he liked things to push around or that made a noise.Educational talking or singing toys are good too

Wrap up an empty box, kids always seem to want to play with the paper and packaging! At 1, I really don't think that they have too much comprehension of Xmas, what it is meant to be about... I am not talking about making yourself broke and running your credit cards up because of media pressure either!

Don't buy him expensive things for this christmas...all of my children at that age...Only played with the wrapping paper and boxes..We have a picture of my middle son inside a box...like he was a gift! That's all he played with and he out grew all the toys we spent a small country's fortune on...within a few months...
