The mommy war where do you stand?

I was a sahm for the frist year and then started working part time nights now I am working full time nights and my hubby works days. I think moms fighting is kind of silly since what works for one family is not right for another. What do you think of show like Dr. Phil using it for ratings?

First of all, this issue upsets me to no end. Women are like hungry dogs when it comes to child rearing advice, and many of them should keep their opinions to themselves. I am sick of seeing polished, self-rightous women who really have no idea what it means to survive.

Many of the women who appear on Dr. Phil are hardly an appropriate example of what an overwhelming majourity of mothers face.

Many of us do not get a choice. We either go to work and pay bills and provide for our children, or we do not and everyone goes hungry. If I had a choice, I would love to be at home with my son all the time - there is nothing I enjoy more than time with him and watching him grow and learn. The point is, I don't have the luxury to stay at home.

Not only that, but I have been an active professional in the theatre for over 15 years. I would go insane if I was stuck at home 24/7. If working makes a mother happy - then that is just as important. A happy mommy = a happy family and a happy child.

My son is 20 months old, is a friendly, outgoing happy child, even though I have had to work for up to 18 hours a day at times. The most important thing is that I make the time to spend with him, and we make the most of that time. His daycare provider is a lovely caring woman, and we have a wonderful rapport when it comes to caring for my son.

I refuse to feel guilty for working, mainly because I don't have a choice, and wish that women would concentrate more on their own children and less on the welfare of mine.

Also - I didn't breastfeed. There, you can chew on that for a while Dr. Phil.

Being a full time SAHM would drive me NUTS. That said, I totally support a woman who either wants to be a SAHM, one who works part time, or one who works full time. I also have no problem w/ SAHDad's. I think whatever works best for that parent and child is what needs to be done. Every family is different. I think it's pretty sad that women feel the need to fight over their beliefs on this.

I haven't watched Dr. Phil lately but he does a lot of stuff for ratings. I do believe that raising my own children is the best way to go! I had a licensed daycare for a short time and I have to tell you the truth - I did not love those kids as much as my own and the moms love them more than I did. Some of the kids totally annoyed me and it was hard to keep watching them!
I'm glad that I stay home with my kids. We may be a little bit poorer but we are happier! I'd miss them so much if I had to drop them off to be raised by someone else while I was at work.
I have different roles than my husband and we like it that way! I'm glad that he is the provider of food and shelter and he's happy that I provide love and nurturing care to our children.

The U.S.A and South Africa are the only countries who are not mommy friendly and what I mean is there is no support for working mothers, Working mothers are working mothers not because we want to but we need to it is a necessity for 90% of us and half the time half goes to childcare alone!!!! There should not be a war of the mommies but a banding of motherhood and try and get legislation to develop programs for working mothers. For those who can stay home and can afford to stay home my hat's off to you!!! For the other mommies like us who have to work out of necessitiy we must come together and support eachother. Remeber it takes a villiage to raise a child!!

I think everyone should just stop fighting - there really is nothing to fight about. People are free to choose whatever they wish, what's best for them.

I stay at home. I like doing it. I try to not make snap judgements on women that choose to work. As long as they don't make an issue of it, I don't either. If asked my opinion, I'll give it. But I don't try to belittle another's choices or make them feel like a bad Mom just because we disagree on parenting choices.

Is he really a Dr.? nothing works the same for everyone. people are different and situations are different, it,s all try &error also times are different
