you need to teach the kids how to play "nicely" with puppy, AND equally *with the 5 yr old* teach him how to be that puppy's dominate playmate.
NEVER hit the puppy. instead grasp the scruff of his neck (gently it only takes a LITTLE pressure) and pull him down to the side *neck on ground* eventually the pup will give in and roll over...sign of submission.
you have to learn how to talk dog...since dogs RARELY understand being yelled at (they don't speak human, lol), puppy class is GREAT and teaches basic obedience..the 5 yr old can enjoy learning how to get puppy to sit or lay down...get him involved.
NEVER let the puppy play w/the kids unsupervised!!! esp. your 2 yr old. babies do not understand that animals need space..and no matter what KIND (breed) of dog you have if your puppy feels threatened because someone is pinching or pulling the pup will do one of two things...yelp, and run, or growl and bite. *fight or flight* that is instinct NOT aggression.
keep the pup in a crate or other room while your young ones play unsupervised *even the pup needs a break from the kiddos*, and always correct bad behavior in the pup using the techniques learned at puppy classes.
some pet shelters, SPCA or humane society offer free puppy classes, petco or petsmart might offer them as well. check it out!

When the dog nips one of the kids make a loud noise eg OUCH and then put the dog in timeout in a box or some area for a few minutes then try again and he will get the message that ha has to play nice. This has worked for me many times so goodluck.

Puppies chew each and every different once they play. Your dog could suppose that she is gambling together with your youngsters. You have got to trap her within the act and say no at the same time tapping her chin from below with one finger, now not tough however the tapping might startle her. Rub her enamel together with your finger and say no, in a stern method. When she eats, disturb her lightly. Stroke her again or puppy her at the head and say well lady. Do it playfully. Later you would shift her bowl speedily after which push it again. Just to make her consider you're gambling a few sport together with her. But if she bites, faucet her chin and say NO. She demands you to exhibit her what is permitted and what isn't. Allowed -- well lady, in any other case NO. This consuming interruption might support her to develop up with extra believe in persons. Most puppies develop up this fashion may not preserve meals or belonging. Especially when you've got such babies within the apartment you have got to make certain she does not preserve meals/belonging. If now not, while your little one alternatives up her toy or a few belonging, she might growl and even chew. She continues to be very younger. If you begin now you are going to have a completely satisfied and candy dog. It is tough paintings on the establishing as you need to spend plenty of time looking her catching her making errors. If she isn't stuck within the act you don't have any technique to exhibit her it's not proper. Good success!

Maybe the puppy wants to join in playing with the kids. He sees them having fun and wants to be a part of the fun.

When she starts to get nippy, try separating her from the kids until she calms down. Eventually she will learn that if she doesn't play nice, she doesn't get to play.

another option is a water spray bottle. Get your children to spray the dog if it nips.
The dog will hate it and will be disciplined in a non violent manner
