We never have a Sunday roast, why spend the whole Sunday cooking. We prefer having a roast when we feel like it than standing cooking when we could be out there walking the dogs or having fun. It is an old-fashioned habit and one i always hated as a child. We always had to wait till after lunch, do the dishes and then we could go to the beach, what a waste of time that was:))

I don't do Sunday roast these days, we tend to go to a nice little country pub up the Dales that does the best Sunday lunch for miles around, good honest home cooked food and I don't have to stand in a hot kitchen cooking it myself, this Sunday, Sirloin of beef with horseradish sauce, Yorkshire pudding, roast and mashed potatoes, spring cabbage, carrots and turnip and a nice thick homemade gravy to pour on the lunch, pudding homemade apple crumble with custard and a swirl of cream, beautiful.

I'm not roasting this week I am having sausages mash and veg with lashings of gravy and a glass of wine. If I was having a roast it would have to be a garlic chicken or a nice piece of beef with crispy roast tatties mashed swede and parsnip cabbage broccolli and green beans ............... hey that sounds good I might change my mind ......

Roasted leg of lamb, seasoned with garlic and rosemary. Roast potatoes, cheese and chive mash, carrots, broccoli, and cauliflower boiled whole and coated in a cheese, dijon mustard and breadcrumb mix. And of course, gravy made from the meat juices and mint sauce. No,nothing really but if I had a choice, this would be it.
