Do you think that a believer is a better person than an atheist on the basis of faith?
If you think it does, does that apply to a fanatic believer and a family loving atheist?

Its not what one believes that makes them a better person, it is how one conducts themselves among others ! Having respect for others, and oneself is by far better than claiming to be religious and therefore better than everyone else !

I can't speak for others I can only speak for myself. So as for the fanatic believer and the family loving atheist you will have to ask them personally. And no one here can really answer for them. As for me yes my faith makes me a better person. I was heading down a very bad path, drugs, alcohol, various men, ect.... When I came to Islam all that changed. I am now a wife and mother. I stopped all that and now am a respected person. I even quit smoking cigarettes. Not only am I a better person mentally but physically to. And I really don't think I would of done that without Islam. But to each his own.

Yes I believe that faith in God makes me a better person but that does not mean that I am any better then anyone else. Being an atheist doesn't make one any better or worse then anyone else. As a Christian I view all people the same, it is their actions that I base my opinions on not what they believe or disbelieve. And I surely do not try to change people, that is not for me to do. But still if I am asked a question such as yours, I will always say that faith makes me a better person. I believe God loves me and all people. And love is not about how you feel about another person, it is how that person makes you feel about yourself. Many people don't understand that.

I think a believer has morals and so do some atheists. I think a good person i someone who follows the golden rule. Faith has nothing to do with the quality of a person. A person can say they have faith in god, then go and sin, and then they can just confess or repent. It doesnt make them a better person than an atheist that doesn't "sin" as much as one that has "faith".

I truthfully have self belief in many gods and goddess's.. yet once you're conversing of the christian god i dont comprehend the way it could make you a greater guy or woman if thats not what you like... ok then ill anticipate the christian god. when you consider that i delight in the examine that i already do i won't be able to say that it could make me any better. i dont have faith that faith must be an effectual source of fixing right into a greater guy or woman.. i think that being honest and bringing happiness to others makes you a greater guy or woman. My god's and goddess's in basic terms mirror on my own existence. even with the undeniable fact that it does provide me an open innovations to settle for others and there religions. :) blessed be!

1st question:
-No, faith in God gives believers someone to be accountable to when they sin, whereas an unbeliever has no one. The Bible says that "there is none righteous.. no, not one." I know many unbelievers that have better morals than some belivers do.
-and Yes, It all depends upon that person and their relationship with God. The closer they want to be to God, the better of a person they will become.

2nd: Both take a lot of faith. Is a Believer better than an atheist? Only God is to judge that.

3rd: refer to above

I am a born again believer. I have thought a lot about your questions. I honestly don't believe that my faith in God makes me any better than any other person. God created all men equal. I think that my faith in God has enabled me to have more faith in myself and has allowed me to be more understanding.

As for athiest... My uncle was an athiest. He died a few months ago from cancer. He was asked just one week prior to his death if he believed in God. Being a war vet, his comment was, "There's no athiest in a fox hole." You see, when it comes down to it, and when given the opportunity, we all do have some form of belief. It often just depends on the situation.

Better, well that depends on the context. Let's define a believer as someone that has accepted Jesus as their Lord and Saviour, because one can believe, but not be saved. Is that person better? Well, if we are to be Christ-like, we should be meek, so I would not put myself above someone. The fact that I am saved and will not burn in Hell makes me better off, but there is still hope for others. As far as a fanatic, that is a very blanketed statement. What's your definition? One who doesn't go along with the popular and in crowd? Then I'll stand up and be counted. Better for you to ridicule me for that than have to answer for it on Judgment Day.

I don't think I am better than anyone, but my faith in God has definitely given me strength in my life , and to overcome adversity and turmoil that I had been going through before.

faith and "goodness" have no correlation.

imagine an x-y scale. x is goodness and y is faith. A person can fall anywhere on that scale.
