I think that it depens on when you go, In the north of Italy is sure thet you find people that if you talk in english will reply you in english, but not in the south, I live in the south of Italy(sicily), and here not many people can speak english. Go in the south of Italy, and you'll find a different reality(real). Then it's much better than the north, we have sea, good weather forever and hot

I am an American who is studying Italian. It is the most beautiful language in the world!! But, I have been told that most Italians speak English...if an American goes to an Italian city, they will not have a chance to speak much Italian because everyone will answer them in English. Do you think this is true? I will be going to Italy in the next year or two, and I would like very much to correspond with someone who speaks Italian.. please let me know what you think.

Ciao.... ,
I do like your language and I've studied a lot of it a Modena, on my youth. As you may find out, I'm greek, resident in Athens.
Your Island is full of greek monuments and it sure is a temptation
to learn about it. It's true, there is another...Italy in Sicily, and I reckon there is a clear sea, good food, nice views and.......!
But where do you live in ? what city ?
How do you say in your dialect : my city is very beautiful ?
In greek = i polis mu ine poli omorfi.
A presto... C U !

Ciao....John-John.
