I'm not a doctor, but I have seen this before and just took some classes on schizophrenia, and this sounds like a classic case. The four different characters talking to him seem as real as you talking to him. And he is right in center of the age group that this mental disease targets. Him asking for help is a good thing and he should definatly see a doctor. Many people with this disease loose touch and talk talk less, with some people not talking hardly at all. Sometimes when they do talk, their sentences jump, and the thought patterns are all over the place. The good news is this can be treated most of the time with medication and other doctor orders. I would get him to a doctor AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! best of luck....Check out the link in the source list below, it explains in detail all about it.

Here's my answer:
This sounds exactly like an episode i went through. it lasted about 2.5 years. it was rough, and i became VERY suicidal. i got so bad, and ended up developing a severe paranoia. when i was very young, i developed an imaginary friend, and as i got older, he started talking to me. the worse thing is, a couple years ago when i first really realized i had a problem, i heard voice vividly enough that i would sit there arguing with them for hours. eventually, my fiance walked in on me arguin, and sent me to a psychiatrist. i didnt believe that anything was wrong until i finally got on seroquel and abiligy, along with lexapro and welbutrin.
basically, what it comes down to is he NEEDS to see somebody, or something very bad can happen. all people are different, but you can assume that he needs some form of help.
i was diagnosed about 2 years ago (finally) with psychotic paranoia.

I don't care what your parents say, your brother should see a psychiatrist and fast. The noises in his head is the tip off. It sounds like schizophrenia and it can be treated with drugs if caught early. Take him VERY seriously. His hostility is also a sign of a psychiatric problem.

if voices talk to him he more than likely has paranoid schizophrenia and really needs help. especially if he says that people are abusing him. he has a chemical imbalance in his brain that he cannot correct without medication. A doctor can assess if he is telling the truth and what type of treatment to pursue for him. schizophrenia is a very serious disease though and he should get help before he seriously harms someone or himself.

Well, sounds like maybe he has a chemical imbalance in the brain. I would definately have him see a therapist for the mental part, and he/she would reccomend him to a Dr. for the physical part of it. They will find a prescription that is just right for him, and the therapist can do mental exersices with him. The Dr and Therapist combines will know exactly what it is and how to fix it.

Sounds like paranoid schizophrenia to me. Download some info on it and print it off and give it to your parents from a reputable website - like www.webmd.com maybe.
Possibly, once they read the similarities and compare them to what you are describing (of your brother's symptoms), they will take him to get the help he needs. He is asking for it. It has to be hard for him. Please keep trying to help him. It sounds like you are the only one who is. Maybe, if your parents still won't seek help for him, you could talk with the counselor or his teachers at school, and get them to intervene on your brothers behalf. Good luck.

He sounds like your common reclusive computer geek. He needs a date and a lay, but he might already be too far gone. You may need to hire a hooker for him, a tough one.
If you can't afford that, send him some good porn before he goes off the deep end.

I'd say, if he thinks he needs a psychiatrist, he probably knows that his condition is not normal, and that it's not to late yet.
Usually when people want help, they aren't that sick yet, its when they don't want it, when it gets serious.
If your parents don't agree to him going, explain to them why you think that its important. And ask them why they think he's making it up. I think it's denial. If they still don't think he needs help, but you think he does, and he thinks he does. Take him, yourself.
I agree with the guy above me.
