Um, how about going for a high ponytail? If not, two low pigtails that hang over the front of your shoulders. I usually wear my hair in a normal ponytail, but I'm not forced to. Maybe a bun would look nice, depending on your dress code (if any).

curler set, french braid (there are all diverse kinds), curl with curling iron (both all of your hair or very few of it for free curls), once you've layers you may want to turn the layers out, french twist, twist it up like a french twist yet go away the authentic out and take care of with a huge clip so the authentic it type of sticking up and out, you may want to apply those head scarves and tie that round your head (tie it on the bottom), go away all of it down except for the very authentic, center area and make a "poof" by pushing that area up a touch and take care of with bobby pins or barette.
