Why is it the people who fnd cloning most immoral and wrong also happen to be those who believe in God and the Bible's writings? Assuming one believes the story of Adam and Eve is correct...The very first human female...was a clone.
Not identical, but in essence, a clone. As she was a rib extracted from Adam and genetically altered to be a female. I'm an atheist myself, but I always wondered.

I think it's wrong too, myself, except in methods such as farm animals to make more food in situations where it's necessary for people and other meat eating animals to survive.
I didn't think about the soul issue though, thanks. I'm just really interested in seeing things from a religious perspective.

I'm not sure there are a large number of Christians who have decided that cloning is immoral and wrong. Are you sure you're not thinking of the destruction of embryos in scientific research, including embryonic stem cell harvesting?
Because human cloning is still beyond medical science, it seems to me the jury is still out on its ethical standing.
It may be that some religious people consider cloning is getting too close to mankind attempting to usurp the role of God in creation. It was God who extracted the rib from Adam and genetically altered it to be a female, so this example is not similar to cloning of humans or genetic alteration of humans by other humans.
Consider the Biblical story of the Tower of Babel. The people of Babel began building a tower that they hoped would reach to Heaven itself. God considered this goal to be disrespectful, so God changed them from having one unifying language to having numerous languages. The people of Babel could no longer communicate with each other, so they abandoned the building of the tower and split up into numerous smaller tribes, breaking up the powerful and technologically advanced civilization that was at Babel.
Perhaps some Christians are concerned that research towards human cloning could be the modern, scientific equivalent of the Tower of Babel.

I don't believe in god or religion but I do think in cloning is wrong. I think it is wrong In the case of humans but not with animals. Animals are not in the same state of consciousness as we are. Cloning animals would bring us into another level of understanding life. It would also benifit us in the future when food becomes limited. Cloning a human is not that simple. It will have feelings just like us and I just think it's wrong to experiment with something like that, even if it is for science.

Life is supposed to be the result of the intimate union between two people. And it is a gift from God. When you clone - there is no love - life becomes just another commodity an object for the selfish use of others. When, in fact human life is full of dignity because it is in the image of God.

There is nothing wrong with it. Any so called christian who is opposed to it may be because of why we are trying to clone. Is it for body parts or stem cells? Or is it to bring life into the world? The "why" is far more important than the "what" or "how."

Christians believe that God gives each person a soul when he creates them. A human-created clone would not have its own soul, and/or would have to share a soul with its original, and that goes against Christianity

in case you look at cloning as we could continually, Spiritually incorrect. evaluate this, Christ is termed the Lamb of God. the first animal they cloned replaced right into a lamb, sheep. this gives lamb of guy. that is evil that is putting forward to God that we not favor him. God help us and forgive us

This is a very interesting question, and now that you've asked, I'm curious as well. Unfortunately, I do not have an answer for you because I, like you, am an atheist :).

because the baby born without a soul is the seventh sign of armageddon, and a clone would be born not of natural means and not have a soul
