BPD as in Borderline Personality Disorder or Bipolar Disorder?
Either one, a therapist is an excellent idea! Find one that specializes in CBT.
I have had both of those diagnosis' and had to change a majoriety of how I thought. I was on enough medication that those alone could have killed a herd of cows, not to mention the real inability to have any clear thinking. I quit drinking and the " once in a blue moon" smoking pot. I have had many doctors tell me I was NEVER going to live a "normal" life and would have to be on medication until the day I died.
I started going to a few 12 step meetings with my boyfriend and found many people who went through what I did. This may differ from your life, but it made the world of diffrence in mine. I really jumped into the CBT (cognitive behavior therapy) and had the willingness to make the changes in the way I thought.
I am now getting off the very last medicine (Lithium) on Thursday.
I have never been happier, healthier, and functional in all of my life. I was in a living hell for over 20 years!
IT CAN BE DONE!!! CBT and the 12 step programs showed me how.
I was even told that my problem was more likely due to alcohol abuse and many addicts present the Bipolar and Borderline Personality Disorder symptoms. Which in my case is true.
Call around or check out The Allience for Menal Health for therapists who use CBT in your area. If you are at the point of getting off medication, do it with your doctor! Going off on your own can be very dangerous and even fatal.
Good Luck and Best Wishes!!!

I feel for you. Don't let it take you over. BPD took my sister from me.

I think the only way to beat it is to change your life completely. Maybe just sell all your stuff on ebay except what you need and get out of town. Get away from the people and atmosphere you are in. Start fresh. But, I am not an expert in this area. I can only think that this is what I would do if I were in your shoes. Your current life is screwed up, so instead of ending it, exchange it.
I wish you well. Be careful, BPD's rarely make it to 40 years due to suicide.

Unfortunately I am an expert on PBD. My son has had it for for 31 years. He see some of the best psychiatrists in New York and Los Angeles and they have help very Little. The only sign of restoring him to normal was a series of shock treatments which helped enormously; however, the treatment didn't last for more than 7 days and then he returned to his disorder. Drugs did very little to help him. One MAO inhibitor worked quite well for a week or so but my son developed very high blood pressure and so the drug had to be suspended. He is now seeing a psychologist who specializes in his disease but so far results have been sadly limited. There are several good books on the subject "I Love You. I Hate You" and others that can be bought on the internet. They can help explain the disease and offer help to the family. Good luck. It a very tough disease to resolve or even diminish.

Borderline character disease is a 'psychiatric situation' that has the next signs : The man or woman can NOT 'manage their temper or habits' and are given to 'outbursts' of speech that do not 'make well experience' ... however this may also be 'very moderate.' ONLY A PROFESSIONAL can 'diagnose' Borderline character disease ... so if you're 'concerned' approximately this man or woman's intellectual wellbeing, you will have to 'talk to the mother and father' or 'associate' and ask that the man or woman be taken to a intellectual wellbeing supplier and given an 'evalutation' so they may be able to get the PROPER wellbeing. YOU ARE NOT A PSYCHOLGIST/PSYCHIATRIST so DO NOT 'diagnose' ... simply 'cause them to mindful that there might be whatever mistaken' and allow THEM 'deal with it' ...
