I was wondering what the benefits of being a cop are. HOw much do they make? What's it like and most importantly what's the emotional gratification?

How much they make depends on which police department they work for and what they do.
For a idea of what it is like, call your local police department and ask about riding along with an officer.
I know that at times it can be emotional gratification to be able to help protect people.
If you are thinking about becoming a police officer, then you need to think about it long and hard. It is a job with long hours. People who one moment are glad you are then and the next moment are mad at you.
Also be aware of the emotional toll it will take on you and your family. It can be very stressful job and stressful on your family.

I think being a cop can be dangerous... depending on what exact area you want to be working.
I think they probably make like $30,000 a year.
I think you get a good sense of gratification and the feeling of accomplishing something when you're a cop. You're helping people out... you're taking criminals off the streets... you're doin' a lot of good.
Just be aware of the dangers of really bad people shooting you or anything of that sort.

Pay starts usually around $14-$21 dollars per hour to start.
Over time is usually available.
Benifits are normally the best around.
The standard retirement in Utah is 20 years.
Some departments provide take home cars.
You get to help those in need, sometimes change lives.
Save lives
Take out the trash to make a better community.
You would be the role model to thousands, especially kids!

Salary will vary greatly from department to department.
It's a highly stressful job and dangerous--but you are a hero. You will be helping people everyday as a police officer.

Well, for one thing, cops can take peoples' stash and keep it for themselves. Also, cops have the opportunity to be complete ***** to total strangers becuase they think they have the right to. Also, cops smell like ham.
