I have been hunting most of my life and know that when using a food scent try to use ones that are not readly avaliblae to the deer in the area you are hunting. So I am planing on using apple and cinimon is there any other that yall think might be usefull to me. My property has lots of acorn and walnut and clover but not much else. Any advice?

two years ago i read on a hunting site the same question you are asking, a hunter wrote that he had used apple juice for years, he put it in a spray bottle and spayed around his stand, and on his clothes and boots, I swear, the deer came right up within shooting distance..you could see them sniffing for the apples.

You have to get the deer acclimated to the scent if you plan on luring them with it. If you go out opening morning of the season, whether bow or gun, the deer will realize something's up. That's why people start baiting with corn or apples days or weeks in advance. If you'd drop a pile of apples the morning you first hunt you'll see nothing...... and return the next day to find nothing left. Try to add some other food plots in the off season. Easy & cheap.

You don't need attractant scents up here in the north. You only need cover scents. Before the rut, the deer will gorge on the acorns. Find a white oak, they love those the most. Once the rut starts, you need a eustrus scent if any for the bucks. Good luck and happy hunting!

I use cooking vanilla on all of my cloths and deer come looking for the smell. I had a deer circling trees trying to find the food smell.

Wash gear in non scent soap or Arm & Hammer baking soda and hang out to dry then place in plastic bag with either leaves of branches from area you hunt. You clothing will absorb the natural scent.

what ever is on your property use that plus the leaves from trees you do not want to add anything strange that is not on the property do yourself a favor test your scencts off season that will give you a couple of months of testing make sure the scents that you test are in different locations on your property you do not want to spook any big deer they did not get big from being stupid.
