I am Christian and I agree 10000%
I cant get it either.....there is division amongst Christians, yet we all have the same ultimate belief, God, the Spirit, Jesus, the Bible.
If Christians united it would be a powerful unity.
Perhaps (from a Christian philosophy point of view) this is Satan keeping us apart, out of fear. If we came together it could be lights out for his rule over most of the earth. If he can keep us squabbling over little things, we are divided. Even Jesus said a kingdom dived among itself cannot stand.
Great point!
Thanks for the question, wish I had a good answer, other than we are imperfect humans who fell into a trap..... :(
thanks for asking a question RESPECTFULLY!!!

It's the same God. Just one religion feels it is superior because they are doing it the "right" way. Their vision of God is supposedly right, and they are the chosen, whereas the other denominations are wrong in some way. Each denomination has their "version" of God.
There are seperate churches because each church branched off from one another (due to disagreements or new viewpoints.) They must claim their's is the "right" one to keep their parishoners going to that church. It's kinda like a store.... a store has to say they have the best prices, or the best quality or whatever. If they say "well, the store next door really is the same..." they'll lose business and eventually go broke. The same with church... kind of.
That's a very cold way to look at it, but people really do believe their church is the "chosen" or proper one. And even though I agree with you that in essence they are very similar and should all be promoting the same things, each denomination feels it is the correct one.

hey stunned bunny.... you need to broaden your world.
there are muslims and sieks and budhists and lots more out there.
Christians are not the majority. There are bigger religions out there.
And within every religion, there are those who figure they are right, and everyone else will burn. When you look at it world wide, those people are usually representing a group that makes up less than .001 per cent of any organized religion.
the only universal religion is the one that knows what you know now. and that is because your universe only takes up a fleas hair worth of humanity when it comes to poeple who believe.
You know how many... maybe.... 200 people (don't count on them all coming to your funeral).... and out of them how many think the same way you do?
But I bet they are all christians where you come from.

Most don't disagree about worshipping the same god. It's the way they worship that they differ about.

I'm not confused. I know that the Catholic Church was the first and original and true Church of Christ, then came men like luther and henry the VIII and made protestantism, they made up they're own churches to fit they're lifestyles, that the cause of all the mix-up and confusion

Oh well, probably there was a conflict between people's beliefs which has led to so many divisions.
After all the whole concept of god is just plain belief.

People are looking for to see how can my religion help me, what religion do I gain most from, instead of accepting that they need to live for their religion, not the other way around.

ONE GOD AND JESUS?
GOD IS JESUS= SO I WORSHIP GOD OR I WORSHIP JESUS.
NOT GOD AND JESUS.
DENOMINATIONS ARE WITHIN A RELIGION...SO THEY ALL WORSHIP THE SAME GOD..
YOU ARE ALL CONFUSED.
DIFFERENT RELIGIONS WORSHIP DIFFERENT GODS..
DIFFERENT DENOMINATIONS WORSHIP SAME GOD WITH SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT DOCTRINE OR TEACHING.
YOU CAN GET YOUR HEAD AROUND SOMETHING YOU DON'T STUDY.
EITHER LEARN IT OR STOP BASHING IT AND TOTALY IGNORE IT.
THAT IS WHAT A GOOD ATHEISTS WOULD DO.
IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE IT-
WALK ON BY.
YOU GONNA GET AN ULCER FROM DISBELIEF?

since God is nonexistent, and Jesus is long dead, there is a lot of room for interpretation of the wish and will of these two absent figures, and each new interpretation is a cornerstone for a new church.
