When she starts having adult-type responsibilities and makes those decisions for herself. Any of these qualifies her: pays bills, seeks higher education, begins working in the public sector, pays taxes, is considered marriagable and capable of making a home, etc.

I concur with Snufkin, i.e. those are only words and are in basic terms derogatory in the context of somebody who's definitely sexist like regarding a 25 3 hundred and sixty 5 days-previous woman being stated as a woman. i've got stated women folk of their 1920s as females for the time of inner maximum conversations and it grew to become into completely effective. In communique i've got stumbled on that it is common to talk over with youthful adult males as adult males and young women as females; i think of those are arbitrary issues that are innocuous and that i don't think of people ought to examine into them. in terms of whilst a woman turns right into a women folk, it incredibly relies upon on the context; in some sects of Judaism, as an occasion the female is felt to grow to be a woman on the time of her bas mitzvah, in terms of secular regulation, the transition occurs upon the guy's 18th birthday, different would argue that transition into womanhood happens on the time of menarche at a similar time as others would desire to argue that this is on the tip of puberty. There are people who will argue that the transition happens whilst the guy is emotionally, psychologically and financially waiting to take on the commonplace jobs that go alongside with adulthood, so it incredibly varies lots.

Well, to her face, I wouldn't call her "woman", I'd call her "lady." But it varies from each individual... usually by 19 or 20 I'd say..

I actually only call "women" as such when i respect them. I still call certain girls, "girls" simply because they're don't respect nor themselves, or anyone around them. To me Women are women until i lose respect for them, then i just call them girls =P or even worse, a "chick". but that just me.
