Hitler, Pol Pot, Muhammad, Pope Legat Arnaud-Amaury for his burning of St Nazaire at Bezeirs, Solomon, Moses, Sweeny Tod etc. All told by God to commit murder in his name. Do you believe that or are they just Mass murderers ?

Small correction, though. God didn't tell them anything. They claimed so.
There's a difference between actually being told and saying you heard it so. I think that's called a lie.

A mass murderer is by definition a person who kills many people - If the pope you named only killed one guy, he's not a mass murderer. Also - Moses and Solomon??
Anyway...some of the most brutal mass murderers/serial killers ever were religious, and sometimes highly respected in their churches. Some were fanatical, (Hitler) some not, (BTK). These days, legalistically speaking, someone could claim god told them to do it, and set up a nice little insanity defense for themselves..
