I think NOD32 Anti Virus is the best anti virus software you can get, it is the only anti virus suite on the planet to successfully stop 100% of viruses in the wild, 8 years running. It stops unsigned viruses, worms, trojans, malware, phishing, and spyware. NOD32 is the only solution worldwide that has not missed a single “In the Wild” worm or virus in the rigorous testing conducted by Virus Bulletin since May 1998. Virus Bulletin is an independent testing organization with full-time antivirus experts. Virus Bulletin is widely recognized within the antivirus industry for its rigorous comparative tests focusing on virus detection rates, scanning speed, and generation of false positives. To earn a Virus Bulletin 100% Award, an antivirus product must detect all of the current “In the Wild” viruses and not produce false positives.
NOD32 is the only solution worldwide that has never missed a single “In the Wild” worm or virus in this testing since May 1998 and holds the world record of Virus Bulletin 100% Awards, obtaining the 39th Award in August 2006.

OK - never even heard of Quickheal so can't comment on that one.
AVG's paid version provides you with customer support & from memory a couple of extra bells & whistles, but certainly does not improve your protection level.
Ones to avoid (all bloat-ware): Norton, McAffee, BitDefender, Kapersky, Avast - all these tend to be massive resource hogs.
Best two paid versions by a long shot:
*Panda
*Symantec Corporate (although their Norton range stinks, their corporate range is very stream-lined & lite on system resources) - although aimed at the corporate market, can be purchased by anyone from their website.
Oh, just an extra tip - unless you want unnecsary resources chewed up, it is alway better to run individual Avti-virus, Anti-malware and Firewall ap's than one entire suite. They tend to work far more efficiently and your system will be far less weighed down

Paid: Kaspersky and Nod32..
Free: AVG, Avast...
Norton and Macafee are crap, Avast free has a higher detection rate... They're horrible compare to their price..
While Kaspersky had a virus detection rate of 99.62% and followed by AOL Active Virus Shield, which also had a 99.62% because they had the same engine..
Macafee is ok I guess, but I still think its crap along with Norton because it slows down your computer.. However Norton is much worse, if you have 2007 or above uninstalling and renewing/installing is a pain in the *** because its designed to leave things behind... Not even its own uninstall can handle it.. Thank god I only had 2006...

music has a point, they are the two top sellers and are good. but if you want total peace of mind from a complete anti-spyware, anti spam and anti virus suite, try www.trendmicro.com and download the 30 day free trial of PC-cillin14.
one of the easiest and best suites on the market.
great for home users and for corporations.
for example I'm currently attempting to build and host my own website. you would normally think that you would open your system up to hacker attacks by having open ports, however using the site www.grc.com my system appears to be in 100% stealth mode meaning from the point of any passing hacker probes my system does not exist.
making this the best software firewall and basically all around total security suite i have used and i have used Norton systemworks, Norton Internet security and a decade ago mcaffe.

Here's a deal, FREE! I work as a computer tech and often change flavors of antivirus software for customers. Avast rated 8th of 10 in Consumer Reports for all software, but was the only free one on the list. Amongst free A/V programs, it's number one.
Try Avast antivirus, found here:
http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html
... and for your Firewall needs, check out Filseclab:
http://www.filseclab.com/eng/download/downloads.htm
Simple, easy-to-use and effective protection.
Let me know if this is the best answer. Hope it helps!

Give up using Windows, and install Linux on your computer. Linux is immune to all viruses, malware, spyware and adware.
Linux is a complete operating system that is either free or very cheap ($10-$30) and comes bundled with a huge variety of free software.
The Linux desktop is amazingly flexible and customizable, and anyone who is used to Windows will soon feel comfortable with it - and shocked by how dull their old Windows system looks by comparison! For example, in Linux you can use up to twenty (yes twenty) separate desktop work spaces - Windows only gives you one.
Go to www.distrowatch.com to find out how to get all the popular flavors of Linux...
...then do an image search for Linux screen grabs on Google.
