IT IS TRUE.

Yes it is true but not because you supposedly drink more because of the straw.

You actually get drunk faster because you are ingesting smaller amounts of alcohol more often. The smaller amounts, more often, make it easier for your body to start absorbing the alcohol faster.

If you hammered a beer, the bulk of it will still be sitting in your stomach for a little while. If you took sips from a straw the smaller amounts are absorbed into you body faster since there isn't a whole bunch of beer sitting in your digestive tract.

Try it sometime. Get a shot glass and have a buddy (with equivalent tolerance, skill, whatever you call it) help.

Split a case with him. Give him 12 beers to drink however he wants, then you take your 12 and drink 1 shot every minute til you are out of beer.

That would be 1 Hour and 12 minutes to drink all 12 of your beers (2oz. per Shot and twelve 12oz cans/bottles). I bet you will be drunk before he is, and you probably wont have a full belly after drinking all that beer.

No, it is not true (ask any professional bartender). The effects of alcohol depend on the amount consumed in a given time period, body size and metabolism. Drinking through a straw may seem faster because people tend to take longer (and therefore larger) sips through the straw, often without realizing it. Ounce for ounce, however, it makes no difference by which method it is consumed.

That's a sill question. If it's a myth, it isn't true. And, no, drinking from a straw results in the same amount of alcohol as does drinking straight from the glass or bottle.

Perhaps, but it depends on how fast you sip and how big your sips are, because you can take more in with a straw and faster (if you are so inclined); not because straws possess some magical ability to make alcohol stronger.

It's only true if it makes you drink a higher amount of alcohol which would in turn get you drunk faster.

If you put the straw far in the back of your mouth you can drink alcahol thats strong, or a straight shot and taste it less. therefore you drink it faster, adn drink more.. so you get drunker.

i think the myth is that coffee burns you more because of the low pressure you create by suction.

there isn't one about alcohol in my world, but if there were, it wouldn't be true.
