We have two cats which are brothers
One is normal , likes food, chases and murders birds, likes sleeping on beds, can open the door etc etc
Other one is skinny because he lets his brother eat most of the food, is scared of birds, hates beds, has no brains, and has a tail which curls into a circle. I can straighten the tail but when let it go it goes back into a circle. We are very embarrased but the cat couldn't care less.
Any ideas please.

To all who say this a birth defect are mistaken, it is a behaviour which he developed at approx age of 18 months.
When young he was the more dominant, adventurous etc than brother but at age of about 12 months the characters switched then few months later tail curling behaviour developed

This is more common than you think:

His personal preferences, fears, and intelligence level may be related to the tail.....but they could have nothing to do with it whatsoever. Just enjoy your unique cat.

Hi there...perhaps your kitty's curled tail was probably was formed while in utero or when coming through the birth canal during birth. It's quite natural as many cats will have a crook tail and it doesn't affect their overall health.

Animals are like people as each has their own unique personality and physical characteristics even if they are blood related. For example, if you have brothers or sisters, perhaps you notice there are various differences between each of you--you may be gregarious/outgoing or more reserved/timid; you may be smarter, slower in learning things, you may be bigger, taller, shorter than your siblings, etc.

awwww... c'mn. Leave the cat's tail alone... it's a birth thing and if it isn't bothering him, why worry? One of my cats has stumpy tail that is actually folded in. Looks like a pompom. The tail is fully functional and we and our cats are very proud of the pompom tail!!! And by the way, your cat with the curly tail is simply a very timid little kitty - that's his personality. I do hope you'll love him just as much as the other one.

Ones the dominant one and the other is submissive.
Not a bad thing. The bigger one just overpowered him long ago so the smaller one lets him eat first and lets him chase the birds so it doesn't start a fight and as for the tail, thats a submissive thing as well.

It's a birth defect, my cat has a bent tail as well. I am not embarrassed of her for any reason at all nor do I think you should be. He's unique, enjoy it.

you're embarrassed?? i would be proud - i mean, that cat has its own trademark that very few other cats in the world have! i've never heard of a cat that can curl its tail like that. our dog was black with a white goatee, and i always thought that made him really special!

kinked or crooked tails (from birth) usually have malformed vertebrae. I xrayed one of my cats once just to see and the kink was caused by a bone that was triangle shaped instead of normal.
